New Striker

First of all - hello everyone.

I'm a long time lurker and recently decided to create an account. I'm a lifelong Spurs fan currently living in Australia.

Secondly, i think that was a good draw yesterday. We played really well, dominated the team at the top of the table, creating a number of quality chances whilst restricting them to only a few. All we needed was a quality striker to put those chances away, just as Van Persie did with the only decent chance he had all game. Which brings me to the point of my article.

I think it is clear to everyone that we need a top quality striker. It is no coincidence that having signed Falcao, Athletico Madrid now lie second in La Liga, ahead of Real Madrid. It just shows the effect a striker can have on a team.

However I'm not here to go on about how much we need a new striker. As I said, I think that's clear to everyone. I'm sure even Levy knows - the man is hardly an idiot. What I do want to say is that I think we should wait until the next transfer window to buy a striker.

The best reason to wait until then is that we will - hopefully - have secured Champions League football. The benefit of this is twofold. Not only will it allow us to entice better players who want to play in the Champions League, our participation in the competition will mean we will be better off financially. Therefore we will be able to afford a higher quality striker than we could now.

If we wait, we will be able to secure a player who will make more of an impact on the team, and propel us further up the table.
