My apologies to all Villa fans!

I have been on your page relentlessly slagging your club for the appointment of Lambert. I advised it would end in tears and you would have been better, yes better, continuing with Mcleish! It actually now gives me no pleasure in being correct with my predictions. The reason for this is you have been mugged off not by Lerner but by Lambert! When he walked out on Norwich there were already murmurings of discontent with his treatment of centre forward and club captain Holt, I wonder how much else was going on in the background? However the mugging has been as an experienced manager he shouldve been aware that the downsizing of your squad on experience levels was incredibly naiive and would result in these times that you are currently not enjoying! He, however, is in a win-win scenario in that he is conforming with your chairmens wishes and therefore may not be under the extreme pressure he deserves for the performances of your team that actually deserve in a sacking! If the chairman does he walks with a bumper pay off and some other mug chairman will buy into his "chairman told me to downsize" bullkack! Should he retain your managers job he may be able to bring you back up in a season or two! However should you not get back up within 2 seasons you are well and truly fecked! Again he walks with reputation almost intact but although I wished this upon you, I gain no comfort from it! I truly hope he jumps or gets sacked and you rebuild into the decent team that Messrs Shaw/Whithe/Morley and Cowans played for!

All the best Villains hope it gets better for you soon!

MON left just before Milner was sold to City... Some say he left because he wanted to spend the money of the Milner sale, some say he left because of the Milner sale... I believe it was because he was not allowed to spend anymore. And was given a very limited budget.

Sorry early start late night, getting confused. It was Barry sold and then looking like Milner would be sold.

In all honesty though without some huge cash injection could you have seen MON breaking into the top 4?

Didnt call Feillani cheap merely pointed out that Oneill rarely travelled outwith the epl to sign a player! lazy cant! And there was value to be had elsewhere! Feillani=value

You're getting me confused now. Barry left one season, Young followed him the next season to United, Young signed early in the summer I believe...then Milner left the same season as Young I believe, but Milner played one game...then left. Downing left the following season.

As for the cash injection...could it have helped I don't know because we had sold all our good player by then. Imagine Villa still having Young, Milner, Laursen who had to retire, Stan, Downing...

Regarding the top 4! I believe there is only 1 place up for grabs each season! Usual suspects Manchester United/Manchester City/Chelsea/Arsenal one team may slip up but rarely 2. Then you have potentially Spurs/Liverpool/the team that slips up/Newcastle(based on last season)/Everton and any of the others that surpass their usual levels all fighting it out for the last place in the top 4! How much money do you throw at it and for how many seasons?

Now heres the thing! For football fans we would just go after it time and again if our wealth would allow it but Lerners American and I would imagine that drive isnt there!

Can't even spell now!

Barry 2009

Downing 2011

Young 2011

Milner 2010

O'Neil 2010

Yeah so I think it was Barry sold and Milner looking like he would be sold that finished him off.

As for the big cash injection I still feel the team was ageing and didn't have a great deal of quality in the squad. Any CL campaign would have been short lived without yet another big cash injection. At least I feel that way based on how European campaigns seem to effect other teams league form.
