Just read with dismay that Aguero has joined city for 40m, its quite sad and shameful that we let him slip through our fingers, what is 40m to chelsea, for such a great player, if Roman can buy an out of form Torres for 50m we should be ready to pay more for a player like Aguero.
I just hope AVB knows what he is doing, Chelsea is not Arsenal, what are we trying to prove? that we can win the league or champions league with over aged players who have passed it or by not spending? Roman should be encouraged to do the right thing, he wants us to play good football and win trophies, and he is ready to fund it but some people in here and maybe the board are discouraging him, criticizing him for spending so much last transfer window, now he has probably tightened the purse. The truth is, if we don't get quality players (no matter the cost) we will struggle against the likes of City and several other teams who are reinforcing their team. I am urging Roman not to be deceived by the people around him, he knows the right thing to do and should do it, go out there and buy quality players and give to AVB, let him build his team around them, no need to manage over aged or under aged players, buy quality, I want to watch good entertaining football next season. I rest my case.
we might regret all this

@ lstd: and if Torres don't pick up, we struggle till the next transfer window, its not safe to put our eggs in Torres' basket, so far he doesn't look like he will deliver

I do think they are a little foolish. They have been spending a lot since 2006 and they have 1 FA Cup. They are putting a team together every summer and there is constant problems in the Man City camp with manager fall outs, stroppy players ect.
Aguero is a good player but his wages are way too high and if they carry on putting players on wages between 200 and 250k then they won't be able to spend any money on transfers or they will have to start selling their best players because they can't afford to keep them.

I know it's not safe to count on Torres but we have Drogba and Sturridge and we can afford to get Lukaku. The 4 players you want wouldn't help us in anyway with CF.

anyway, I just don't think we should be criticizing Roman when he goes out to buy an expensive player, rather I think we should encourage him and show our appreciation, after all he wants whats best for the club, let clubs like liverpool and arsenal worry about money

I wouldn't be criticising him. We just have to be realistic, no club can afford 200m spending sprees now

Also if we truly believe that Modric will solve our midfield problems, then we should up our bid for him, no need to waste so much time and make a last minute offer, its better to get him now so that he can be integrated into the team, but imo I am not sure that he will be much better than Benayoun

I think we would rather have Pastore, he makes more sense to me, Modric would be more of a replacement for Ramires than Lampard and Ramires should be starting

The Blues owner, Roman Abramovich, has been talking to Modric’s agent on his yacht in Dubrovnik.
