It makes me laugh when people talk of a lack of investment in the sqaud. With the permanent deals given to Cox, Harding, Halford, Lansbury, Gillett and Collins in addition to all of the loanees (who will all have cost a few quid in wages and probably loan fees) SO'D probably spent more in his half a season than Billy did in two.
Lets not forget that we have also tied up long term deals for Lachelles, Cohen, Dex and Raddy.
Also let's not forget that McCleish brought in more players in January than any manager in the last five years.
We put a value on Burke and Brum wanted more - it happens although if not for getting the cash for Butland they probably would have sold.
The Boyd deal was a bit bad but didn't the Posh owner say on Twitter that he had agreed terms with Palace and was in London to sign the day before deadline day.
According to a Wolves supporting mate of mine they accepted a bid for Ward but he didn't want to leave. We didn't have a chance to have further talks as he was in the team playing against Leicester (on a Thursday thanks Sky).
Lack of investment

Goach, the players you have mentioned along with the fees are £5.8 million alone (at net spend of £3.5 million) not forgetting that all of these players were either on (albeit on the lower end of the scale) Premiership wages or Championship wages. With loan fees and wages for all of the others will probably send our spending over since July well past the spending Billy did in his two years.
I would also bet that Dex, Raddy, Cohen etc who have been tied in to the club will have been on as good or better terms than they were already on.
