I know this is probably not relevant as Billy Davies is all but certain to be appointed tomorrow (but stranger things have happened, especially lately )
but I was wondering Why is it that everyone seems to dislike the idea of Roy Keane getting hired so much?
He is not terribly experienced, but he took a decent Sunderland squad up in fairly spectacular fashion and playing some attractive football in the process.
I realize he flopped at Ipswich, but really that's a crap job where he received almost no backing.
He played for Cloughie and is himself a Forest legend (at least in my mind) although his association with Man U may be distasteful to some, it doesn't bother me. So what is it?
What's so wrong with Roy Keane?

He did well with Sunderland for one season but was found out the following year in the Prem. He was backed at Ipswich but was a complete failure there. He can probably use his strong personality and playing experience to motivate a strong squad in this division but tactically he's weak. If he had a very good coach with him it might work but I imagine he's very pigheaded.

I don't believe he can manage.

Can't bring players along with him, his single mindedness that made him a world class player is what holds him back as a manager! He's also ridiculously stubborn and falls out with players too regularly, sent Rhodes to Huddersfield on a free coz he fell out with him who sold him 2 years later for £8m after he fired them to promotion!

He admitted purposefully breaking a fellow professional's leg. And he's not a Forest legend at all.
