Possible loans

http://www.football365.com/derby-county/8480162/-

Nigel Clough is looking at the possibility of signing a loan, similar to the situation in 2011, with a view to this becoming permanent, maintaining his belief to have a squad of committed players.

Regarding rumours, we've been linked to Simeon Jackson, the Norwich City striker.

Two other links concern Irish players who might be interested in joining the already strong Irish contingent at Pride Park.

We've been linked to Enda Stevens, the young left-back from Aston Villa as a possible replacement for Gareth Roberts.

The other link is intriguing, Alan Judge, an attacking midfielder/winger, playing at Notts County, a Dubliner aged 24.

Charlton tried to sign him in the January transfer window, offering a player-exchange deal. I read that Ben Davies could go to Meadow Lane as part of the deal, a former Magpies favourite, which could sweeten things. A move could be of interest to Judge as it means he wouldn't need to relocate; the increased media profile on the Irish players at Pride Park means that he stands a chance of breaking into the Irish national team if he impresses; and he's probably ready to make the step up after having to work hard for an opportunity following his exit from Blackburn.

His current deal expires at the end of the season & he'll be a free agent, so he might wait to explore his options in the summer.

Has anyone heard of other possible deals?

Yeah, but don't you think Gary Johnson is a great manager, Mostyn?

Blimey, Manel scored 94 goals in his 236 games in the top two divisions of Spanish football. He WAS brilliant!

Mostyn, I take it all back, maybe you DO know something about football after all.

I think he's a more suitable manager for Derby than Clough is, he's also acheived more as a manager.

The table doesn't lie. The facts are irrefutable.

Clough>Warnock, Adkins, Houghton, Laudrup, etc

Exactly. The facts are irrefutable.

Manel: legend.

Sammon, Robinson, Tyson. Neither are perfect but I think i'd have Sammon over the other two. But I would like to see Jacobs and Ward. Hendricks would never of scored his goal on Sat if he played the 1-2 with Sammon. We need to keep the ball on the deck, having Sammon just encourages the long ball and hoping to pick up the second ball. I want us to keep the ball and not gamble.

"but we brought him to score goals"

That isn't actually what Clough has said, Wassa, he has said that he isn't an out-and-out goalscorer but that he is in the team to do a job for the team.

Nigel Clough on signing Sammon:

'When we first drew up a list of potential options with regards to bringing in a new striker it’s fair to Conor was top of the list, our number one target actually, so we’re delighted to announce his arrival.

'Having tracked him closely at Kilmarnock and, as everyone knows, been so close to bringing him in 18 months ago, we've monitored his progress at Wigan in the Premier League and we know he is capable of finding the back of the net.

'He is going to be a key player for us and when he plays regularly, we know he can score goals. We really like how hard he works too and that means he will fit into our squad comfortably.'

What Your Nige says now and what Your Nige said then are two entirely different things, Vidals.

Still, great tactician, hey?

Clough and Vidals OUT.

But he is capable of scoring goals and HAS scored goals, so Our Nige was right!

You keep telling yourself that, Cosmo.. Your Nige intended for Sammon to be a significant contributor of goals; he isn't, not by any stretch of the imagination.

I like his work rate but he's not a midfield engine, he's a striker, or at least was supposed to be one.

Clough and Vidals and Milfy OUT.
