Would any united fans be happy if we did a swap deal Rooney for bale? I would be more than happy and would even pay another 20 million on top. Interested to know what the Tottenham fans think as well

One of those one who has to come out with the insults all the time?
It's either you or somebody with a very similar name who never has a nice word to say about Rooney.
Gets very boring

What you have to bear in mind is that United have the most supporters. Thus it stands to reason that vast amounts of them will lack any football knowledge what so ever.
Those are the Rooney haters among our fan base.
When you confront them with the facts, like his goal scoring record, and assist record increasing from when he was young, to what it is now, it shoots down this utterly ridiculous claim that he is regressing.

No, I couldn't say that.
You could, and that is your right.
Utter bollox though.
Yeah right. I'd like to see what the consensus is on here as to which player is playing better. Think you'd be in the minority.

Not that i am answerable to you but your description is not me.
I have critiqued Rooney more than most on the United board - no doubt about that. I try and cut through the hype and evaluate Rooney.
However, i have also tempered my criticisms with praise for e.g i consider Rooney the biggest 'club big game player' in the world bar maybe Drogba and Messi but of course it purports your agenda to spout half-truths and BS.
A quick glance through my profile will tell you the sort of poster i am.

Are you a journalist or some kind of news writer or do you just sift through the dictionary looking for intelligent words to use?
I am very fair on this board so I don't understand 'purports your agenda to spout-half-truths and BS' catch line.
Anyone can see Rooney has lost some of his old attributes but as long as he is banging in the goals against the big teams for me then I am not going to complain and whinge about him on the forums.
Actually to be honest, I had a few words to say about him after Wednesday night - he was truly diabolical and it was probably the worst I have ever seen him play.

I don't think he could handle the pace of Ronaldo and Coentrao and he looked a bit tired to me, probably all those cigarettes!

Me likes Rooney cos he is good and makes United tick...don`t give a damn what anyone else thinks..the Red Cog...or the Red Tomato...bet they get RED faced when the Roon scores (which is often)and all yellow too from the egg!
Get real guys Rooney is not exactly Messi or Ronaldo, but he is right up there behind them....yeah and looking back at the welsh corgie...(bale him out if he gets into trouble, see)
Straight swap? NO WAY!

The op either isn't a United fan or is deluded anyway, half of his articles are about getting rid of Rooney

Rooney is a top player, but I have heard (not directly i would add) from one of his coaches saying that Rooney will not be a top player in his late 20's early 30's as he does not look after himself well enough.
He does look like a player who can gain weight easilty and as a kid he was a lot more mature physically than other his age, unfortunately that works both ways as his body will age quicker than others.
Time will tell, Rooney is still a top player but I don;t think he will get any better from now.

I'd definitely agree with this. As a United fan I think he's a top player, but just has reached the tip of his peak now. I doubt there is much improvement for him. He could scrub up on aspects he still struggles with like his first touch, but other than that, I can't see him turning into Ronaldo or Messi.
He's a top player, but wouldn't want him for Bale at all.
