Wenger nearly cracked it

Why did he destroy it!.

Evening guys, was just thinking back to our 07/08 campaign where we nearly achieved the league. If Wenger would of built on that team which showed so much promise, we'd be a lot closer to City and United today. Instead he's opted for the profit, the £ signs were to much for him to resist. Should of kept Flamini, aswell as signing Nasri and if he's gonna let one of them go then replace them with the same quality or better!. He always bangs on about his philosophy and it was working for him 5 yrs ago, he was so close.

Moving foward 5 yrs and it looks as tho the guy has destroyed his own philosophy imo, it's ok bringing these great young players like Jack through but they need quality around them. I don't doubt that we have some quality in this team but we need it everywhere. Our squad players are average, we cant trust them to get the job done as sat proved. It's just not good enough, that's why I'm finding it very hard to trust in Wenger again at this moment in time if I ever will again!. The team was there, just think of Jack coming through with those players around him. He's sold out , once great manager has sold out to the money men.

Maybe signing our young Brits was a turning point or is he or the board again looking at the potential £££££££! They could get for them?!. I don't have to much optimism for the Bayern game but hope we at least get a performance.

i dont wenger put much of a fight tbh

if he put an ultimatum up saying:

we either force rvp to stay or you lose both me and him

the board would have forced him to stay for another year

Of course Wenger was ok with it or he wouldn't be here now. He has a massive influence with ins and outs.

We were unplayable at times that season.

There's no way them players would av been sold had he stood up to the board. He's as good as part of the whole set up.

If the board are doing things against Wenger's will then he would walk. Don't fool yourselves into thinking otherwise.

im agreeing with you batmanu

i said wenger would challenge the board with an ultimatum if he wanted to keep those players. the board dont want to lose wenger and if he gave an ultimatum they would have folded. the very fact that the best players have been sold prove that wenger was fine with it

Wenger wanted to resign Flamini. The club spent months negotiating with him, but ultimately, he decided it was his dream to move to Milan.

Wenger does not want to slowly dismantle the club he has worked so hard at building; the comparative lack of financial muscle in the transfer market is where the problem lies.

Removing Wenger will not remove the frugality that has held this club back for so long.

I didn't say I wanted him removed. I'm just saying that he's let himself down. And any player is resignable if the desire to keep him is there from the manager and the board.

OMG! I can't believe some of the comments I have seen here. To believe Arsene would be willing to destroy his teams so that the board could make a profit is absurd! You are the same people that believe that gets a percentage of the profits from player sales.
