Wenger to have last laugh on RVP sale

Think about it! When has Wenger actually let go a player and he became a success elsewhere?
Other than Cesc whom he held for 3 seasons in a row I cant think of any player who left when Wenger actually wanted him to stay!

My mind always goes back to that conversation in the Koln friendly when Wenger could be clearly heard telling RVP that "you are no longer part of my plans"

For those who think Im making this up

With the arrivals of Podolski,Giroud and Santi, RVP was willing to either run down his contract or have a look at a new offer but Wengers final word probably made him push his agent to get him a new club.

Some may look at it as a miscalculation by Wenger as neither Giroud or Podolski are in RVP's class but when you consider that the dutch man is 30 in August, and his dodgy injury past how much longer can RVP really go after 30???

Remember Arsene is armed with medical stats and all.I am not trying to defend Wenger as the whole RVP sale made me sick even up to today but he might be aware of something we dont.
Remember when Viera left in 2005, how he deteriorated physically at Juve.I remember watching his first matches at Juve wondering what had happened to Viera.

Lets face it, united could possibly have won the league without RVP this season.Their only real challengers are City and City have played well below expectations.

Yes, it may look like RVP is the difference but I still think united would have won the league. They just seem more focused and determined. It wouldnt be pretty but they would have won.

The real difference RVP makes is in the cups and the champions league. He has already made a statement in the FA cup against Westham but its the return leg against Real Madrid that will convince me if this transfer is as spectacular as the media wants us to think.

No doubt RVP has mastered the premiership defences, since his glorius form last season but where he moves united forward in my opinion is the champions league.Thats where the value of his transfer lies as Rooney has failed to life united since Ronaldo left.

Wenger in a season or 2 might actually have the last laugh.

If Arsenal don't qualify for the Champions League this year, that £24 million isn't going to look like much of a deal.

I just wait for the day RVP just breaks down and Fergie realises the professor has sold him a dud.

Hasn't almost every good player you've sold gone on to have success elsewhere i.e. win something.

Henry at Barca
Vieira at Inter
Cesc at Barca
Flamini at AC
Toure at Man City
Nasri at Man City
Hleb at Barca
Cole at Chelsea
Clichy at Man City
Reyes at Real Madrid and Benfica
Even Seb Larsson at Birmingham City won something.

Seems they all made the right decisions to move on.

But that stat means we would have played the whole season with 10 men.

Ruiney, I know that doesnt work like that. But yes the guy is a vital reason for you winning silverware.
