but I would quite like some feedback from Chelsea supporters on it, so I'm making it in to an article. Am I dead wrong? Or do you agree?

I'm aware to the more pressing issues, glad to see what I've come up with is the same as Chelsea supporters. (You say CF, CM + CB, and I put in Falcao, Hummels and M'Vila)
But in all honesty, and this maybe is where being a fan of a club hinders the perspective, I don't think that line up is strong enough still. A chelsea supporter would see it as huge improvement and maybe a chance at the league again, but I still don't see the same strength in that line up as in past Chelsea sides.
Cech
Fereira Carvalho Terry A.Cole
Lampard Makelele Essien
Anelka Drogba Robben
is one of the best 11's assembled in the PL era.
Cech
Ivanovic Hummels Cahill Cole
Oscar (M'Vila/Fellaini) Mata
DeBruyne Falcao Hazard
isn't. And I don't think it's as good as United's or City's current 11's if all their players were firing on all cylinders either, let alone the sides they could have after the summer, where both are likely to spend at lease £50m bolstering there squads.
Liverpool in 10/11 and 11/12 were making more chances than any team in the league, but missing them all nearly, similarly to how Chelsea are doing now. But no one bothered with them when title discussions were about, because they just didn't have that special commodity that it takes. They had no way of playing that was their way, nor a strong leader and manager to inspire and motivate. They just didn't inspire fear in their opponents and inevitably didn't come close. Chelsea have lost something, they've withered. To really come again, it will take a huge overhaul, or else, very possibly, Chelsea could go the way of Arsenal and Liverpool, slipping in quality until they aren't the team they once were.
To sum it all up, I ask you this. At the start of the season, the game against Atletico Madrid. Would any Chelsea fan watching 4 or 5 years ago have been happily joking and laughing about the game, when Chelsea we're being played off the park by their opposition. They of course, wouldn't. Because even on their very worst day, the Chelsea of 4 or 5 years ago would NEVER have been beaten in that manner or by that result by anyone in the world. Chelsea have lost the fear they put in to teams, and 3 or 4 top additions won't give them that back. A strong manager and his fresh perspective would. You need someone to fight Roman, and who'll do things that will risk his job to the good of Chelsea. Someone who if he is sacked, the fans would turn on Roman with a venom, regardless of what he has done for you in the past, to show him that you want stability and strength in your leader and his team. Otherwise, for all Roman's good that he's done you, you'll never have a real sure footing among Europes elite. To be like the Manchester Uniteds, Bayern Munichs and Real Madrid's of the world, who for years and years have been the best around in their lands, Roman has to sumbit authority to more knowledgable people. Otherwise Chelsea in my opinion are on a very slippery slope, that throwing money at could help, but won't solve any problems.

That fear we had has gone with the new style we are trying to impose and the less physically intimidating players we are recruiting.
The 05/06 team we had was a magnificent team with a magnificent manager, we would do well to put a team like that together, but I doubt it as some of those players Terry, Lampard, Makelele, Robben, Drogba, Carvalho were in the top 3 for their positions in the world at that time.
But with the 3 players that we need that I have mentioned added to with the loanees being recalled will give us a very strong young team with great potential. I am one of those Chelsea fan that is convinced Mourinho will be back this summer, therefore I am not worried about having that winning mentality back together with a very organised defence like we used to, as Mourinho will bring that instantly.
But in the case he doesn't come, I agree we need to give our next manager some time as we have to build that solid spine again, and some sort of winning mentality. Again I am confident Roman would have learned his lesson by the time Benitez leaves.
------------------Cech----------------
Azpi------Luiz--------Terry---Cole
----------Fellani----Romeu---------
Moses--------Mata--------Hazard
-----------------Falcao----------------

Ivan-------Cahill----NewCB---Bertrand
------------De Bruyne---Mikel----------
Isco/Piazon----Oscar----------Marin---

A squad consisting of those players backed up with Mourinho as manager I think is good enough to challenge.
Of course we can add a lot more quality to that, but I am giving the minimum which I think is required for us to be able to challenge on all fronts.
The fear factor we had before did really come from Mourinho, and we managed to successfully continue with that mentality after Mourinho left (Having big players helped)....so I guess what I am trying to say is that Mourinho coming back is the main ingredient in my future Chelsea here.

We can do far better than Fellaini and need someone better than Moses starting. Some smart recalls from loans and a CF and we're laughing:
Cech
Azpi-Luiz-Cahill/Terry-Cole
Oscar-Romeu/Mikel-KDB
Mata-Falcao-Hazard
