Jenkinson

How do we think Jenko should approach the challenge against Bale on Saturday.

Either he can stand off him and try as hard as possible to show him onto his right foot, but then Vertonghen will be able to rampage down the left wityh him and I don't much like the idea of not pressing an NLD.

The other option is to close him down and risk getting embarrassed/getting a yellow card. Personally I'd like to see Jenko try to hit Bale with a reducer early on, shake him up a bit. I'm worried though, we nee Koscielny and Walcott to cover him from in front and behind, it's the biggest test of his career so far.

Walcott doesn't do covering out wide anymore.
Hasn't in quite a while this season I've noticed.

That said, if that keep Vertonghen in is own half, that's maybe a good thing.

Tie Bale's shoelaces together.

Jenkinson should literally never leave his side

Don't think that Jenko will face Bale but if I am not worried at all because Jenko is quick himself.

If bale plays on the left, jenkinson will have no issues. If bale goes through the center then arteta will have issues

TBH, Jenko might be a better option against Bale

Bale plays off the striker in a sort of fluid 3 in the exact same formation as we do, so he's unlikely to face CJ too much. If he does, I actually think Jenkinson might deal with him OK. He's dangerous when beating people for pace or power (struggle to do that) or shooting from distance, which he won't be too threatening from if he's against Jenkinson and therefore out on the left wing. It's when he's in the massive gap between our back four and midfield that he'll be dangerous.

I wouldn't. If Jenkinson picked up an early yellow card.... THAT is when we would see every single Spurs attack coming down our right hand side. THEN I would start to worry.

i think coming from the lower leagues gives jenkinson a bit of an advantage, in that he's used to dealing with old-fashioned wing play. bale, for all the wonder goals he scores, is still a crude pace merchant who mostly gets success from knocking the ball forward and chasing it. this isn't anything new as far as jenkinson is concerned.
