Taxi for Pearson

Title says it all really!

Pearson using the excuse of not taking our chances, getting very bored of hearing this now. I could almost predict what he's gonna say after every match!

I think he'll be here till the end of the season but we need someone like Nigel Adkins!

The answer of what is happening is simple and one a supporter of your length of time should know already Malling, every season is long and hard and no presumptions can be made of what will happen or where your chosen team will finish.

Many like Spoonfox claimed at the beginning of the season we were only a mid table team ( funny considering the season hadn't started ) so where we are now is above their expectations and we've been their all season nearly.

When we win 5 games on the trot do we all think we'll romp away with the title, even Cardiff could let that slip yet, so why all the panic and despair when we have a rough patch, why do fans still persist in thinking automatic places are our right?

Bearing in mind it's come out that we lost £30 million last year it's easy to understand the limitations Pearson is under financially making his work this year even more exceptional, he may have already met the owners targets by putting the Club back in a better financial position, promotion may be a secondary target now, who knows?

TrueBlue makes a decent point there - I was one of many posters on here who said at the start of the season that we were a mid table side, so in that sense we have performed above many people's expectations.

I think the last few games (and indeed the lapse we had earlier in the season) are the result of a very thin squad in terms of quality. Many people had that worry nagging away at the back of their minds even when we went on hot streaks and were shouted down for airing that view, but clearly they were right.

As Dunge says, this squad has neither the quality nor the experience to grab an automatic place and reaching the play-offs will be a decent achievement for this group of players.

Rose tinted viewing again. Like I've said before, and yes I have commented after a win true blue, NP has to go. Not next week, not in four games but now. Absolutely clueless tbh. Vardy on the bench? Gallagher 'duck out' in the dugout still? Why? Schlupp still absent. Hopefully the club will incur more debt shortly......by paying NP off. Get HIM in.....yep Mr Di C. He will get us to the promised land.

Good old spoony, I knew you wouldn't let us down and be straight on here after we lost bless ya lol. I assume they didn't have Internet where you were outside the country to say how we'll we had played against Blackburn lol ahem,
I've no rose tinted specs but I do try and take a more balanced view of things win or lose unlike yourself.
I'm as frustrated as anyone at the moment with our inconsistency and teams above us wining and in form and Brighton, boro and even bloody forest closing the gap, but I've said all along it will go down to the last game of the season unfortunately to decide play off teams and its exciting if nothing else. Cheer up spoon If we beat Leeds on tues we assume you will not grace us with your presence, however anything but a win and you will be the first on the scene no doubt lol

More than a little patronising, TrueBlue, especially when you go on to peddle such banalities as "every season is long and hard and no presumptions can be made..." etc etc. But let that pass.

The general view out there at the beginning of the season was that City were reasonably one of the favourites for promotion, having solid financial backing, a competent manager, and a more than decent-looking squad. This is not a vintage year in the Championship : none of the teams looking to be promoted, with Watford maybe the exception, look to me to have much hope of doing a Swansea or even a Reading. A play-off place therefore seemed what we ought to be able to achieve. But results like yesterday’s and those recently against Peterborough, Charlton and Blackpool (and setting aside our cup humiliations), have now thrown this into real doubt.

Maybe Dunge is right, and it is simply that these players are not after all good enough, this year at least. But there are also hard questions to be asked about the thinness of the squad, team selection, and tactics, and it is no use anyone noisily pretending otherwise.

"The general view out there at the beginning of the season was that City were reasonably one of the favourites for promotion, having solid financial backing, a competent manager, and a more than decent-looking squad."

This was DEFINITELY not the general view on this board at the start of the season and is why I find it so incredible that some people don't reflect more on their original thoughts pre-season.

I personally did think we would be at least pushing for play offs so when we do look like a stutter may drop us out of them I get down and frustrated.

However, common sense would suggest that the fans who were suggesting mid-table and average squad would be the one's being more up-beat and reassuring during these patches. But it seems original expectations have completely vanished for some and simply nothing but automatic promotion and regular wins and great performances will be good enough (although when we do have these patches there seems to be alot of internet connection problems).

Although reflecting a little myself, I have no idea why this is at all surprising as I remember these forums when we first got promoted back to the Championship and in a similar position with similar runs - despite less money and expectation, but a regular spot throughout the season in the top 6, people were STILL moaning and over-reacting so it seems logical that they would be moaning this season.

The general view out there amongst the pundits at the beginning of the season - not on this board, on which there is of course never a "general view", because all such boards attract mainly extremists and self-publicists) was most certainly that City were a very reasonable shot for promotion.

It was certainly my own, and from what you say it seems to have been yours too, KtF. And so like me you are "down and frustrated". As distinct from "moaning and over-reacting".

Don't panic guys. This sort of form will soon bring Johngee out of the woodwork and then we really will have something to moan about!

We're clearly going through a rough spell - let's hope we can push on but the one thing we don't have at the minute is momentum.

Let's hope we can win at Leeds and turn this back around.

At the end of the day this website is all about opinions, I have mine and you all have yours. A lot of what I say is out if frustration but how many "blips" are we gonna have this season. Most teams have 1 but we've had 3 or 4!

Like Mersey said, we've not got any momentum. When we do it seems to stop suddenly with a couple if defeats against bottom of the division teams.

Maybe a bit if arrogance on our part that we can just turn up and win.

IMO, we desperately needed to sign someone with experience during January and someone that'll get stuck in like Lennon or Savage used to.
