Real Madrid-Real Respect

I just have to say that Real's players reaction after the match could not have been more respectfull to Manchester United. I mean we all know abt Jose's mindgames and his "The best team lost" might be something to create an exit strategy from Madrid rather than a humble acceptence of a lucky victory.
But when their Manof the match Diego Lopez says this-

He tells Marca. "With 11 against 11, they had the match in their favour. We didn't know where to go. The sending off altered the game, but we had to get two goals and we succeeded.

- It tells you about the class of some of the Spanish/real Madrid players.
Also i saw no card waving/diving/dangerous tackling from any of the 22 players on the park.

It's just that when there is a Classico, all their demons come out.

But it's really funny, we have
- The opposition coach saying that Utd were better with 11 men and it was not a red
- Opposition players saying the same(Lopez/Alonso)
- Opposition fans saying the same(70% of Marca readers polled that it was not a Red)
- All the pundits saying the same(Except Keano)
- Most of the ex-referees saying the same

But the Abu's out here just can't get this in their thick thick heads.

If Ref made a wrong penalty decision against us, i am pretty sure we would still have found a way to progress, but when you have a player dismissed without any fault the whole complexion of the game changes.
We had no out ball, we could not cover the midfielder runs, all the things we were doing so well before the sending off. It's pretty easy to say that you should get on with the game and defend the lead but at the top top level margins are very very fine. I am sure that if the same decision had gone against Madrid, none of our fans would have been happy about it.

Nice to see them crowding the ref every five minutes.

Nobody cares dude. The only thing that matters is Real went through and we got knocked out.

It does not matter. Justice will only be made when he is stripped of his right to officiate such high profile games.

I personally don't think the ref did much else wrong, there are arguments for and against the sending off. It was in the "heat of the moment" and a decision that the Ref made straight away and stuck to it.

NOTHING like the Overbo scandal of 2009 when the decisions were borderline fixed... but not prooved, only Overbo knows of this

I have to agree. Abidal's sending off was a disgrace.

two of the biggest football clubs in the world, both full of history & tradition.

Good luck to Madrid, we move on.

Rather lose to Madrid than Barca

It's a shame that this thread has been hi-jacked by ABUs who resent having their petty responses to the game thrown into relief by more sporting responses to the game.

As the OP quite rightly points out, Real Madrid (despite the media circus and presidential politics that surround it) has conducted itself in the manner of a great and dignified club.

I agree, Ramos aside. He asked for a few cards, dived ect, more so in the first leg.

Madrid and Utd are traditionally two classy outfits, many will be confused by that because of Perez and Jose currently being in charge.

What a week Madrid have had eh, proper respect for that.

They're having their day.

A United poster on here pointed me recently to this article in the Independent from last month. It was a story I'd never heard before, and brought a whole new light to the relationship between our two clubs.

Barca twice and a win against us, they just need to beat Bayern/Dortmund now and they'll have done the set! Fair play to them.
