yeah first player to ever get sent off harshly
-----------------------------------------------------
There is a difference between harsh and comical.
If Nani had gone into a studs up challenge like Arbeloa did on him, and Ref showed a red it would have been a bit harsh but understandable.
But the red card for controlling a ball, i mean Dennis Berkamp/Berbatov/Di Maria control so many balls in the same way numerous times, it is never a red card. This was one of the most shocking decisions ever...even the captain of our domestic rivals thinks so.
Kompany: "Never a red card."
Ozil's face sums it up to me -

Suso, you're an idiot.
Now you know how we felt when Kompany got sent off in the cup.
All teams suffer from decisions like that.

ompany's decision was harsh...but atleast it was an attemp to win a ball/a challenge/ a tackle so 1 could understand what ref had in mind...
But red carded for trying to control an ariel ball....just non sense
Is that the one that a lot of United fans thought was extremely harsh and shouldn't have been a red?
They have shown great respect over the 2 legs and I hope they win the champions league now.
I don't think this over just yet. I hope Ferguson and Man Utd launch an official complain against cakir and get him demoted and his career ruined. justice needs to be made. after all he is no stranger to such terrible officiating.
Real are, for the most part, a classy club. A true giant who have a great deal of respect for UTD.
Let the ABUs have their day. It's all that have to crow about.
Nobody cares dude. The only thing that matters is Real went through and we got knocked out.
Wayne and Robin
It does not matter. Justice will only be made when he is stripped of his right to officiate such high profile games.
Also i saw no card waving/diving/dangerous tackling from any of the 22 players on the park.
----------------------------------------------------
You couldn't make it up
How many times did the ref tell United players to get up and stop play-acting ?

Talk about bitter, ruin a mans career over a bad decision.
Get a grip.

Care to list them for us?
Nice to see them crowding the ref every five minutes.

I personally don't think the ref did much else wrong, there are arguments for and against the sending off. It was in the "heat of the moment" and a decision that the Ref made straight away and stuck to it.
NOTHING like the Overbo scandal of 2009 when the decisions were borderline fixed... but not prooved, only Overbo knows of this
I have to agree. Abidal's sending off was a disgrace.
two of the biggest football clubs in the world, both full of history & tradition.
Good luck to Madrid, we move on.
Rather lose to Madrid than Barca
It's a shame that this thread has been hi-jacked by ABUs who resent having their petty responses to the game thrown into relief by more sporting responses to the game.
As the OP quite rightly points out, Real Madrid (despite the media circus and presidential politics that surround it) has conducted itself in the manner of a great and dignified club.
I agree, Ramos aside. He asked for a few cards, dived ect, more so in the first leg.
Madrid and Utd are traditionally two classy outfits, many will be confused by that because of Perez and Jose currently being in charge.
What a week Madrid have had eh, proper respect for that.
They're having their day.
A United poster on here pointed me recently to this article in the Independent from last month. It was a story I'd never heard before, and brought a whole new light to the relationship between our two clubs.

Barca twice and a win against us, they just need to beat Bayern/Dortmund now and they'll have done the set! Fair play to them.
