Is Fergie God ?

The reason I ask is because before the match yesterday the general consensus among fans was that Wayne Rooney is a great player and is having a good (enough) season.

However Fergie drops him for one match and all of a sudden general consensus seems to suddenly swing in the other direction and many people are now saying that Rooney is past it and not as good as he used to be etc.

Is Fergie´s power and influence so great that when he doesn´t start a player for one game that just in one day that player suddenly becomes "past it" and "finished" ?

I thought only God had that sort of power.

If Utd fans think that Rooney is past it then I´ll happily take him off your hands and bring him to Chelsea.

I´ll tell you what we´ll even throw in Torres as part of the deal, then you´ll find out the meaning of the word "past it".

No game plan when down to 10 men, ahead on the tie with 30 minutes to go.......I thought he was a top manager

Poor knowledge, OP.

Many United fans, myself included, have been critical of Rooney for quite some time.

He's a great player and I do not want to see him leave, but the topic of his often 'average' all round game has been done to death on here.

I would have started him yesterday, but the decision not too was vindicated and the job Welbeck was asked to do on Alonso was a success up until the sending off.

Like Rob, I also think he'll be off come the Summer. Our manager may not be God, but he's as ruthless, twisted and unforgiving as they come.

That´s news to me but as I said I don´t follow the goings on at Old Trafford as closely as a Utd fan would.

I´m sure that there are plenty of Utd fans who disagree with your views though.

There are. Although I don't know why. His first touch is regularly average and he can't keep himself fit, which frustrates me.

He's still an elite player that has a big influence on our team, but there's no point in staying blind to some of his flaws. Considering the talent we know he has, it's so frustrating to watch his games when his second touch is a tackle.

Rooney is one of our most important players and I really wouldn't want to lose him...

If we were to I wouldn't be hugely worried as I imagine we would have replacements lined up that could even strengthen the team overall, I have faith in SAF although I would still prefer it didn't happen.

I said it in the past that rooney would burn out very fast.. i think SAF thinks the same thing, since great minds think alike
