regarding Rooney.
Not going to have a go at the lad because he's been nothing short of fantastic for us in his 8 years here. A great signing and a breath of fresh air when he joined. But have we seen the best of him? Not every player carries on doing the buisness into their 30's. Fergie has sold big players in the past when he thought their time was up. I have a feeling Rooney is going to be the next in a long line.
I've always been of the opinion that we're a better team for having him in the side, but I'm not so sure anymore. Something doesn't seem right with him. His touch isn't there anymore. He has lost a yard of pace and he is giving the ball away more and more each game.
There are rumours of him turning up to training hungover and smoking and drinking when told not to by the club. I hope he isn't wasting his career.
With only two years left on his deal, it's make or break time this summer. If we are planning on letting him go then this summer is our last chance of recouping a good amount for him. Next summer he'd go for much less and the year after for nothing. I know Fergie has rubished reports of him leaving, but I don't think that's that on the matter. I think the specualtion is going to rumble on. Fergie was hardly going to come out and say "Yes, Wayne is leaving us in the summer" was he? It would have totally disrupted our season and turned into a circus.
How would everyone feel if they left in summer and joined PSG, Bayern or somebody like that?
I've had a total change of heart

Agreed, Rooney has been a brilliant servant...
So he hasn't shown the consistency of CR7 or Messi, but we know them two are extraordinary, but Rooneys service has been brilliant nonetheless...
Wouldn't mind seeing him end his career at UTD..
I would be gutted if he left...
The mans a big time asset.

Get Rooney's fitness sorted out (his genes were always going to catch up with him) and play him in his natural role - in the central midfield area .

If he goes. It's too someone in England.
Coleen will simply not up root a new born baby too another country. Both her and Wayne are known for liking home comforts.
If he leaves utd people are gonna have to accept its to either city or Chelsea for big money and the only two clubs that can afford his wages. Either that or we have a player on 200k a week picking splinters out of his rear.
He is not gonna go abroad.
Can you imagine him trying to learn Italian or French? Fromae frais, he would be worse than Del Boy.

I wouldn't be happy with United giving him increased terms considering that he has regressed as a player since he signed his last one.

Exactly my point.
I love Rooney to bits but I just don't see him accepting a worse deal than his current one. And I'd be surprised if United upped their offer at all. He's not earned it.
We might have to reluctantly sell him, so we don't risk losing him for peanuts or nothing because I don't see a new deal happening. A little Similar to the RVP situation last summer.

The new language thing stopping him going abroad is nonsense though really.
Most of the teams in Europe that might be interested in Rooney have squads that are fluent in English. Bayern, Barca, madrid, PSG......all those teams have fluent english speakers.
I think it would be very incredibly difficult for him to sign for City. Chelsea seems a little more realistic but still a bit far fetched. Arsenal and Spurs.....possibly but they couldn't afford his wages.

Who is gonna leave United for Spurs or Arsenal

City would be the easiest.
He was more than willing to go a few a years ago and they would probably double his wages just to get one over on us.
He wouldn't have to move house to another area and let's face it he doesn't lie the club. We just have him a platform to get rich and win trophies on front of 76k a week.
As for the language thing it's all well and good people working with speaking the language, but what about when they leave the working environment? What about when their family's are in another country.
Sorry man, that's simply not gonna happen. Not for the Rooney.

SE'85 your view isn't tinted by the fact that Rooney looked like he was towing a caravan at times on Sunday is it?
I don't think he can run the channels like he used to, as the cliche goes. Still a fantastic player when he's on it though, don't want him to go anywhere else.

I don't even want to leave, that's the thing.
I just think his time is coming to an end at United and that I'm not so sure he would be missed that greatly as I used to think he would be.
He's still a good player but he's lost that special spark for me. He doesn't seem to be as moitvated as he used to be. Looks a bit unfit and over weight to me.
