Since Thursday night I've had this horrible premonition that our name is on the Europa League this year, BUT we will not make Top 4. I say "horrible" because we probably need CL next year to hang onto Bale, and though a trophy would be wonderful, the only way to truly compete at the top is with the CL income and pulling power for top players. A big pile of wedge for the Welsh wizard does not feel like it will really compensate?
My logic is this - We have literally scraped through our last two Europa ties (think what happened to Chelsea in the CL last year); Playing 120 mins in the San Siro was not great preparation for a Prem game 3 days later; By contrast, what happened with the Gooners was the worst possible outcome for us ie they lose, which means they go out and can concentrate solely on the Prem plus they had a morale lifting victory against a highly rated team.
We've probably over achieved so far this year - on balance we are not quite as a stong as we were last year, so 5th seems about right. Arsenal are also poorer than last year, and all we can hope is the loss of Wilshere hits them in the guts somewhere, some time.
Can any fellow Spur please raise my spirits and fault my logic?
Gut feeling about what happens next

I hope you beat Basel by 5 or 6. The ultimate smash and grab team. I think I predicted Bayern munich to win 7-0 against them and 1-3 in the first leg but I was basically right that they would get thrashed. Basel are the worst side I have seen man utd play in champions league.
If tottenham can thrash them I will be pleased

"Its also in evertons hands as well."
Everton of all the clubs will be having the biggest say on what the final PL top 4 looks like.

Thats the things if everton win all the games they will most likely finish in top 4 without a say from other clubs. They are in the position now to kick on. Like a 2nd chance at top 4. They need to rstop drawing games though when on top.

"Hafijur, why don't you just support Peterborough?"
They haven't turned over Man Utd in one season in the PL or CL like Spurs and probably Basel have.
Yet.

Well good for you. Its actually amazing that the 2 teams I support have Sir Alex Ferguson and Darren Ferguson as manager. I was amazed when Darren Ferguson first took over.

Darren Ferguson also was born on the same day as me as in February 9th.
