Before our home tie with Madrid, everything was looking so good.
RVP in the form of his life, Carrick pulling the strings and not letting the inadequete MF partners affect him, defence becoming solid, SAF using the squad so well etc....
After the RM game, i was so proud of our boys and SAF's tactical approach(as we were deffo going through to quarters befor red card) and kept on thinking that although we lost due to bad luck , it will harden the resolve of the players to go for the double.
But that match had a reverse affect on the players, they bogged down, RVP saying we are tired, now Valencia saying we should be worried etc.
Is SAF loosing his famous powers of motivation.....??
I could understand loosing to Chelsea at the bridge but unable to beat them at home (when they were knackered after a thursday/friday Europa tie)...also losing to City at home again in the league and looking entirely bereft of ideas.....
Only Carrick and DeGea have looked like UTD players in these last 4 games...How can a Man Utd team which is managed to make sure that it peaks near the end of the season run-in look so average??
I still think we will win the league comfortably... but would it really feel like a successfull season...
I guess this season has given us more questions than answers..
Rooney's future??
Our wingers????
Kagawa's Man Utd future?
SAF's retirement??
Cleverly's development???
etc
That bloody RM game....

I think Scholes for short periods was ok that season after he came back but have to admit towards the end of the season, he was looking a spent force and wasn't really what we needed in that game
I actually didn't mind him coming back because the laternative at the time was playing Giggs there consistantly and Scholes was the better option
Staying on this season, with Giggs, and no CM brought in though was a huge risk given the injury records of Ando and Clevs and Fletch's illness
Clevs has improved and I do like the guy in the squad but he is better than Giggs as an option despite being nothing like the Scholes of old type player that we need.
I have a small hunch we may actually get to finally see Ando playing well next season. His knees look sorted and a good pre-season could really see him finally step up.
He does owe us somewhat

Have you been on the pop?
Wrong season.

Because it was 90 minutes too late?

He should have been brought on earlier. But Young was injured - it isn't like Fergie threw him on in the 92nd minute to try and change the game.

yeah, I watched the game in the pub and only read about it afterwards, then forgot.
Like VC says though, he should have had far more gametime in that game. If we are talking knackered players as a reason, then why was kagawa sat on his backside again

Definitely. Should have come on for Rooney after we scored IMO.

I'm sorry, before the Madrid game, we were still playing hot garbage. The argument then was we were saving ouselves for the CL.
Apart from a couple of games, we've played sheet for most of the season and I'm not impressed.
In addition to letting players retire, the manager needs to hang up his boots too

The whole team selection in the CL final was strange

Looking back now, I still can't quite believe we went with a central midfield 2 of Carrick and Giggs against Barcelona. Barcelona ffs!

We probably would now too, we'd also play Valencia, bring Fabio back from loan and sign Park again.
