REALISM-PLEASE

we now have le-ds fans speculating on bringing korens, dorrans and knockeart to elland road..some even think they could get Vaughan..
Far be it from me to p-ss on their bonfire, after beating a very edgy, 10 man Watford with 3 separate goalkeepers but I hope we start this transfer "season" with a good reality check..
dorrans is apparently on 40k a week at wba.. knockeart is on 20 plus and korens is still on premier league money even before they got re-promoted..
We have been paying, alledgedly, 15k a week "towards" vaughans money and about 20k towards beckfords wages..
These were both "short term" solutions to our striker "problems" and are clearly unsustainable without very large pay cuts or offering longer contracts on less money etc..
I think that a lot of teams in the championship will be scouring the lower leagues and abroad to bring in talent on realistic money..
We should also be "targeting" teams who fail in the play offs but have talented players who are "batting above their own teams averages"...
We desperately need central defenders and strikers, if Vaughan/beckford go elsewhere along with alan lee leaving and novak possibly on his way..
Any "realistic" candidates??? we may be able to rule out wolves players as they were on and still will be in the 1st division, very silly wages...
The posh centre halves and left back along with the wee lad up front might be options(nothing personal against posh, its what happens after relegation)...
Please also remember before any names are put forward that qpr will come down and not pay a penny off their debts and will spend their parachute payments on players/wages, Reading don't look in a bad financial position anyway even before the "large wad of free money" they get for being sh-t.. Wigan, will be the same...
So that's at least 3 clubs who will get "first pick" on anyone good who wants to play in this division..

Somert like that captain, showed glimpses of what he could do but just ran around for 90 mins for the most part. Right to release him

Apart from a couple of strikers, Robins will want at least one box to box midfielder and maybe a quality centre back to add to the remains of the squad.

That still leaves us a bit threadbare though for the inevitable injuries, loss of form and suspensions...

If this is the bulk of the squad for next season...

Smithies/Bennett

Hunt/Woods/Dixon/Ridehalgh

Clarke/Lynch/Gerrard/Wallace

Clayton/Norwood/Gobern/Scannell/Southern/Ward/Atkinson/Sinnott

Novak/Spencer ?

...then I will be worried, because it hasn't really proved good enough this season...it's only the goals from loanees that's kept us up...Robins may get more out of them, get them fitter and develop an improved game plan...but it still looks a weak squad of players..

I think we'll be depending on the development/ youth players who the club keep raving about to fill in for injuries. It's what most clubs will have to do now

Vaughan's wages are well within our budget, as long as he doesn't want a payrise there;s no reason we can't sign him.

goals against....
watching us "defending" would have been amusing if it hadnt been so pitiful ....
we were not great at it in the 1st division..
first thing to do is to work on bringing in players and adopting some better defending methods..
goalscoring is great, but we still needed two to get a home draw against the 2nd worst defence in the league on Saturday...
priorities in this division is to firstly be hard to beat and hard to score against..Cardiff won this division without scoring a sh-tload and hull were not scoring machines...
Rhodes is top scorer in a team that only just managed to beat the drop like us..
no more good hidings would be a good place to start..

wolves sack dean saunders????

another large pay out to go along with the ludicrous wages paid to their footballing "failures"...

its not managers, its the overpaid numpties purporting to be "professionals" that are the problem..

robins didn't change much, if anything at all at town..
the jokers just tried a little harder and found that we could, with hard work aligned to the undoubted talent we have, win a few games and not lose the last one...

Grayson started great but then the players, led by klutz, started backing away in games and it all went to sh-te.. He stood on the touchline waving them forward and "nothing"....
Someone, somewhere was running the tactics and it wasn't Grayson..
He "lost" the dressing room????
Player power at town cost us a 12 game run without a win..
I think dean needs to look closely at that and decide what "he" wants to do...
Everyone is entitled to their opinions, one bloke, the manager makes the final decision and the owner backs him to the hilt...if that means getting rid of certain players then so be it...
Saunders will be sacked when he never had a chance, all the overpaid, underachievers wearing the shirts will be ok...

.............& Jackett resigns.

Saunders. wanted to stay on & no doubt put things right, he said as much. needing players who wanted to wear the shirt, That said a lot about what he thought of some of his players attitudes.

D Furguson as yet won't commit. Does he think he can move onto a bigger better club ? or is he concerned he can't do any more on a small budget compared to the clubs he has to compete against.

O'Driscoll said he was more often than not..left scratching his head.

I said it last season, & it needs to be said again, The defense should the main priority. Just like Buxton said when he took over all those years ago.
He left the forwards to their own affairs in reletive terms !
Untill he sorted out the defense.

Disappointed with the decision making, & the way the club has operated this season.
I've been back 3 times this season, & felt underwhelmed each time.
It's only my opinion of course, But that's the way I feel.

darn..
even though he gritted his teeth and made the right "body shapes" and language before and after, the errors were down to him, again..
jack hunt can play full back, he just cant with clarkie and a.n. other...
its taken woods all season to almost get a grip on it but he still gets "caught" out regularly when he starts "thinking" like a defender/footballer....cos those next to him have just "run away" or have gone forward too far to try and win a ball they haven't a hope in hells chance of doing so...
too tight, too far away, wrong decisions over and over and over again.. ball watching(which is a crime in my book) and trying to "defend" TOO DEEP TOO OFTEN AND FOR TOO LONG, has to stop now...

you wouldn't employ a gas fitter to do your central heating , no matter how keen he was or how hard he worked, if he simply couldn't do the whole job and make a good fist of it...

same with professional footballers, im afraid..

darn, the club are extending the cheaper season cards...its a start..

did you see that Blackburn had 61 paid "footballers" on their books????
Rhodes is 40 grand, murphy is 30 grand and at least 6 others are on 20 grand plus a week...
190 grand a week plus the wages of the other 53????
astronomical on crowds averaging less than 18k.....
We are not so bad when all said and done..
