I remember when I was 7 or 8 and I could get a full United kit with a name&number on the back for about £25. Not only that but the kit lasted for 2 years.
Just been on the United site as its my nephews birthday in a week and a bit and next years kit will cost me over £56 and it will be outdated in a year. Don't know how parents do it, I applaud all the parents out there
Childs kit prices - MADNESS!

The Glazers need the money.

Surely Arsenal charge the same sort of prices or even more if their season ticket prices are anything to go by.

I think you have to take into account inflation since you bought your kit as a child. In real terms it may be less of an increase than you think. Inflation increase prices relative to wage increases.

Always remember when my son was little and insisted on having his favourite at the time Kanchelskis for his shirt and at £1 per letter I tried and tried to persuade him that Andy Cole was a better choice

I do not buy kits anymore, just by your nephew a Utd branded shirt or something. It will stay in fashion longer than the kit

Or buy him a kit from a few years ago, or from before he was born, go retro, it'll last longer since you don't need to update it.
Though I guess children don't appreciate classics.
