Ok so this is only a rumour but "apparently" Monaco want him back and are willing to pay 10 million for him.
Would you sell him for that ?
I think yes, he's been awesome for us but this move would be great for him. Monaco are going places and it would be good end to his career.
As for Utd that 10 million would pretty much mean Baines will come in (again speculation) but i think this would be a good move. I rate Baines very highly.
Love Evra but he's 32 now so if they are willing to pay 10 million then it's too good to turn down.
But then again we'd lose one of the best characters at the club.
Evra to Monaco ??

Bale was voted the best player in the league last season. Was he?

Well, I and many others think so. And this was voted for by all the footballers in the league so they'd appreciate how good a player is as they would know.

Actually, no. Footballers aren't the brightest and they just go with the flow or flavour in town when the votes are cast.

no he wasnt mate, he had the best second half of the season, but not first.
also take into account that is run on a calender basis and not on last season alone, and you'd have to say there is no way he should of won it ahead of mata or RVP.

Baines is the best left back in the league, English (i like to see our club have players from uk and ireland) and will provide more assists and better freekicks.

Do you vote for UKIP?
Anyhow, if you think Baines - a novice to the club, if he signs - will take over free-kick and corner duties from Rooney and RVP, you'd be very disappointed.

Mata and RVP had dry spells last season too. I'm completely open to the idea that to give one particular player an award like that invites debate because to be honest any number of players could justifiably won that award but there's no way on Earth Bale didn't deserve to be up there with the other players especially considering he's playing for a weaker team than the rest.
As for the original point, Baines deserved to be on that list. Who was a better left back than him last season?

Ashley Cole and Patrice Evra

Sorry MuDD but Ashley Cole had a very poor year compared to his best seasons of days gone by and while Evra improved he was hardly at his best.
Baines was a deserved winner. And he would be a great signing for us.

Wanting us to have a backbone of British and Irish players is now equated to supporting far right wing politics? Nothing to do with how it helps bond the team, creates a good atmosphere in the dressing room, carries on a positive tradition and that British/Irish players are generally very settled and know they have reached a pinnacle?
As for your 2nd point.... Having RVP/Rooney in the box ready to get on the end of Baines' freekicks might not have entered your mind, but it will likely enter Moyes'.
You realise that RVP was a novice at the club, right? He was quickly moved to freekick AND penalty duties.

JSPC, i was being provocative in the first point. I , too, like to have a British backbone but not at the behest of all others.
Well, our reg. penalty taker sucked (Rooney) so he was demoted. Ditto Corners etc. RVP came and improved it.
We don't need Baines for that reason - as we are ok now .

My point still stands.... RVP and Baines are equally good at freekicks.... I'd rather have RVP in the box.
Anyway, it never hurts to have 2 freekick specialists. 1 might get injured or be rested.
