Compare how fans view their players to how neutrals rate them. I'll start... koscielny, overrated

As a Chelsea fan I'm baffled how all our fans on this board rave about Luiz and how he should be a future captain and not sold for under 50 million.
I like Luiz but he is so overrated by Chelsea fans.
Some people said if we sell Luiz they want mourinho gone!

Wilshire is class.
I actually disagree with most of edincools on the first page other than what he said about carrick.
Good player but people been waxing lyrical about him all year over some solid performances like he's Zidane

For Chelsea it's definitely Ramires. Average player yet for some reason everyone thinks he's a top player.

Wilshere for me. 1 goal every 15 games isn't good enough for a supposed top CM.

I suppose the likes of Xavi and Xabi Alonso are overrated then? They have relatively poor scoring records. Ridiculous logic.
You may have a point in Wilshere being overrated, but your justification of that is nonsense.

First, overrated doesn't mean bad, rather receiving inordinate or undue praise. Secondly I can't agree with the OP's view on Koscielny, he really is a fantastic player, but I supposed the overrated tag might apply to him as he is so highly rated by Arsenal fans. As for those saying Giroud is overrated, you clearly haven't seen the amount of abuse he's been given from Arsenal fans on these boards.
The problem with this kind of article is that unless you have a huge amount of time on your hands, you're going to have seen your team's players play many more times than every other team, so you should be in the best place to judge them, but obviously you'll be innately biased.

I'd say Arsenal's most overrated player by Arsenal fans is Szczesny. By other fans/pundits it's Sagna, Ox or Wilshere. The most overrated player in the league is surely Baines though. Average defender, always getting caught out of position. Just because he gets forward a lot it doesn't make him this fantastic LB that he always gets made out to be.

TKT:
"VDS is the best example. He was better at Fulham than United. One of my favourites of all time.
But he wasn't 'allowed' to be called top class until he joined United."

What daft comment. VDS had been regarded a top keeper for years before he even moved to the PL. I know loads of United fans who couldn't believe that Fulham had managed to sign him and wished he'd come to us instead.

You have compared two CMs that play from deep. Wilshere is supposed to be this dynamic box to box CM that gets forward and attacks.
He is a good player, don't get me wrong. But he's been greatly overhyped.

"VDS had been regarded a top keeper for years"
agreed
but he wasn't put into the running to be THE top keeper until he joined United.
Then perception changed.
Just how the game works.

I think van der Sar is an absolute clown. And was lucky to go to utd. He makes so many mistakes and for his national team seemed to always have a mare. There's a reason people never rated him before he went to utd.miracle career. Maybe a bit harsh and was a good shot stopper. But hey ho can only judge what I see
