Whilst like most of us enjoyed the radio commentary by Radio Nottingham and prior to that Century and would like to know what is happening for those of us for one reason or another cannot attend every game. However what would you prefer of the following two scenarios.
A. We agree a deal with a major Kuwaiti company but they want our games broadcast live in Kuwait, the Kuwaiti broadcasters in turn insist that they have exclusive rights to all our games. The upshot of this being we get around FFP with a substantial amount of money being injected into the club thus allowing us to buy (and pay the wages) of the likes of Austin, Hooper and the other expensive players we are being linked to. For the UK based (most) fans this would mean trying to get a link or pay for Forest Player to follow games we cannot attend.
or
B. We opt for the tried and trusted Radio commentary thus losing the opportunity of a major Kuwaiti sponsor thus relying on someone such as (with all due respect) John Pye Auctions to provide us with sponsorship on a much less lucrative deal. The upshot of this being that, apart from loanees and cheaper players, we will have to make do with what we have got.
The ways of covering games has changed hugely in a reasonably short period of time. For decades there was one live domestic game per season, the FA Cup final, now there is at least one every day and seven or eight over the weekend with Sky etc. I remember the days when Match of the Day showed three games and Star Soccer one or two local games every weekend (highlights only). You went to the City Ground and if there was a camera in the gantry in the Main Stand you were on Star Soccer and if there was also one in the Bridgeford End as well it was Match of the Day. Now of course there are cameras at every game in all four divisions.
I also remember when the radio coverage was Radio Trent (I think) going to the ground for updates every fifteen minuites or when a goal went in. Of course if you were not in the local area you had to wait until 4:55 (or 10:30 in midweek) to find out how your team had done.
Although a regular at the ground at the time the first time I saw Forest live on TV was the 1979 European Cup final.
Radio Nottingham or Kuwaiti TV

Yes, I certainly did say that. (thanks Backo troll for pointing that out)
However, my son who is now home from Uni, has mellowed that view of mine. As he points out, how will he listen on a Saturday afternoon in Leicester (where Radio Nottingham has a good reception) without having to subscribe to Forest world. He too said stuff them, I won't bother if RN didn't broadcast it.
I am open to persuasion and in this case believe those that cannot attend the game should be allowed to listen for free.
As for TV rights. I still say sell to the highest bidder

He has also just said his internet is shared and buffers so not ideal to pay for something that won't work.
Many on here also state it is not always a perfect connection anyway

Oh and backo.... if you notice, I think I also said it should be free to whoever tunes in. My only change is that you should be able to listen by tuning a radio set. Not just the internet. So if it's not RN, I don't gaf who owns the rights. Colin Fray will still probably get the job it won't be some foreign geezer from Kuwait

Hey Webbo I was just pointing out at the time I said "What about the average fan"..i.e your son as it turns out. See.. agree with me and you see the world a better way

No. backo, I still think we should sell to the highest bidder. If that's RN then fine. As long as people can here it locally I do not have issue. It won't be Kuwait radio as that would be a non-starter. If it's Gem106 or Capital Trent or whatever they are called nowadays, I don't care.

Sorry Sporty, but I disagree with the Fancast. The only thing that is making Billy tolerable, and actually making this realm look more likely to succeed, is that he's keeping hi big mouth shut and getting on with the job he's paid to do. Long may it continue.
And I think you're blowing the radio situation out of proportion - the North Korea of football? Jesus.
