There you have it. Fabregas will not join Man Utd
So hopefully we can now move on.

I am really dumbfound with this pursuit. Moyes really may be embarrassing himself here and our new chief executive really does not seem anywhere near the class of Gill. We've lost 2 great servants in SAF and Gill.

I left school in '94 and remember Whiteside well. He scored in the first United game I ever went to. And his FA Cup Final goal in '85 was a special moment…

I understand what you are saying. However, I am talking more about Moyes and his comments. He should have simply said "I don't have any news on it".

I only just arrived in England about a year after the 85 final.

OOF - I think it's idealistic to expect Moyes to come out and say he hasn't got any news on it when everyone knows that the first and then second bid has gone in. People would be saying 'what do you mean you haven't any news on it, are you not kept up to date with what is going on?'. If it was a bid for a player than no-one knew about it, then yes, try and keep it hush-hush, but I don't think those rules apply here. Not all transfers run the same way, some are in the media spotlight, some catch us by surprise, that 's the same for everyone, whether it be conducted by Fergie, Moyes or whoever.
I was 10 when the '85 final was played, and remember Moran being first player to be sent off in FA Cup final. Everton were going for the double (or Treble including Uefa Cup), but Whiteside's goal was a scorcher, lovely curling shot past big Nev, who was probably the best keeper in the country then. The sending off was controversial and shows how the game has changed - at the time many thought it was a harsh red, warranted a yellow, in today's game it was a definite red.

utd were down to 10 men for a lot of the game after keven moran got sent off. Frank Stapleton went back into central defence so everton were naturally going to be doing most of the pressing. But what a special goal from whiteside up there as one of the all time best cup final goals...
