Something I don't get about Suarez

As it becomes ever more clear that Suarez would entertain a move to Arsenal there is something that I just cant get my head around. If Arsenal miss out on Suarez and we end up keeping him, that would mean that they have missed out on their top two targets for the Summer (Higuan and Suarez), therefore they wont be as strong as they would have hoped come the start of the season, whereas we will have kept our best player, whilst also adding others to strengthen the squad. Surely that would mean we would be closing the gap on Arsenal, on paper at least. This would give us a really good chance of at least seriously challenging for top 4 next season. Given this, I don't see why Suarez would want to leave Liverpool for Arsenal other than the fact that he would be playing in the Champions League next season, but it is highly unlikely that even with Suarez that Arsenal would win the Champions League or even challenge for the Premier League.

I Wouldn't begrudge him a move to Real Madrid as they do have real chances of winning their top two trophies, so long as he goes about it a bit more graciously than what he has already done. But I just don't really see the point in moving to Arsenal.

I'm not trying to wum or anything, I just don't see why he would move to a team that has the same objectives for the season as us, although I do admit that Arsenal do currently have a bit more of a foundation to push for top 4. But the transfer window hasn't shut yet.

@ Tactical Genius:

I doubt theres any Arenal fan that believes that if bids from both Real Madrid & Arsenal are accepted by Liverpool.
Suarez would opt for Arsenal over Real, but thus far we seem to be the only club that's made a bid.

And it appears that Suarez would rather be anywhere but Liverpool, no idea why cos you lot have stood by him through a lot, but that's modern footballers for you

wouldn't it make sense to show you mean this by buying the players?

sounds like you are banking on getting Luis first to show other players you mean business, but what if that doesn't work, then what?

HUNTING FOR GLORY (U16317)

I think Real were probably just waiting for the Higuan sale before moving for Suarez, but we will see in the next couple of weeks I guess. As for Arsenal being the only bidders at the moment, just because you have bid and even if he wants to join you, that doesn't mean we have to accept. So far we have been fairly resilient in what our valuation of the player is, I just hope we stick to that. For £55 mil I couldn't care less where he goes, as long as the money is spent wisely.

I actually don't see why Arsenal would want him anyway, I would have thought that he was too selfish to play in your system, but maybe his quality would counter that.

I don't know what's going on behind the scenes but we might be trying to sign other players. But people saying why would he go to Arsenal, no ambition etc. they don't win anything, just want to finish top 4. the fact we just did 40m for someone shows that might be changing.

Liverpool and utd dont and won't trade with each other, thats a fact.
Bit of a soft analogy that, however, even if he does sign for arsenal,he won't change his way's,and he may also see arsenal as a stepping stone if nothing else is available this season, givin the chance to sign for madrid next year he'll still make waves, that's how he function's.

I think Rodgers and Henry rate Suarez as better than Cavani. So do I.

So if Arsenal don't up their bid by close to another 20 mil to high 50s then he won't be sold to them

If Real bid the price will be a little lower because Suarez really wants to join them and they're not in our league

Sounds to me like Mrs Suarez prefers Harrods to the Met Quarter

Liverpool would be mad to sell to Arsenal as it would kill off any hope they had of making top 4.

suarez can go to arsenal if thats what he wants. arsenal only have to pay us 55mil.
at the end of the day, he like torres will regret his move when we remove arsenal from the champions league places.
