Serie A Tournament Review & Awards

This is the review for the Serie A Fifa Tournament, I hope you enjoy it.

Starting off in Group A the largest of the three groups with the players: SpursBoy, Junior, RVPM, Hengy and SKA would fight it out for the three qualification places and it would be the ex-champ SpursBoy who took control of this group. Showing something of his old form, the number 1 ranked player hammered SKA 4 – 0, beat Junior 3 – 0, edged passed Hengy 1 – 0 and finished his group games off with a 3 – 1 victory over RVPM, maximum points secured and with that qualification! It would be harder for current champion Junior though. In a shock 3 - 2 loss to Hengy he faced an uphill struggle to qualify, however he bounced back in empathic style hammering RVPM 5 – 1 and mauling SKA 6 – 2 to force himself into second place and the quarter-finals. RVPM followed Junior’s lead and got himself into the quarter-finals after his setbacks, by beating Hengy 5 – 1 and just edging passed SKA 3 – 2, to see himself through to the quarter-finals for the first time. Disappointment then for Hengy who provided impressive performances including a victory against champ Junior and a narrow loss to SpursBoy just tainted by that loss against RVPM. SKA yet again wasn’t at the races and finishes with this group’s wooden spoon.

So the four players Group B consisted of Tyke, Bubbles, Wilshere and Terry. Tyke lived up to his self-proclaimed tag of group favourite and registered two 2 – 0 victories against Bubbles and Wilshere whilst performance dropped a tad against Terry in a 1 – 1 draw, however smooth passage to knock-outs secured. With Wilshere and Terry drawing 1 – 1, Bubbles seized the opportunity by beating Terry in a close 2 – 1 game and then holding off Wilshere in a 2 – 2 draw to take the second qualification spot. The drama was not over as the third place finisher had a reprieve in the shape of a play-off place and Terry’s hard fought draws with Wilshere and Tyke saw him take this play-off spot via virtue of one goal difference. Wilshere for the fourth consecutive tournament fails to qualify and this time with AC Milan!

Now on to the kind of groups I hate, three team groups. Thanks to circumstances beyond my control this is it what we was faced with as Sideshow, TopLad and Kent fought it out. Sideshow tournament favourite made light work of this group with his Lazio team smashing in 10 goals over two games with a 5 – 1 victory over Kent and a 5 – 3 victory over TopLad, job done for him. Kent knowing the size of the task facing him with his Siena team facing TopLad’s AS Roma, fought like a wounded Lion, but ultimately fell 4 – 3 with TopLad progressing in second place. So that was Kent out of the tournament, right? Right????? Well…

Thanks to Kamran’s and Choice City’s connection problems a play-off match was in order and because Group A had five players and the top three went through, along with the top two from Groups B and C the only way to sort this was a play-off between the third place finishers in Groups B and C who had played less games than Group A, so commence the battle of Terry and Kent both whom hadn’t won a group game between them. Despite his best efforts Kent once again scored a victory over Terry this became somewhat of a formality as Kent ran out 3 – 0 winner and took that knock-out place. Commiserations Terrence, Kent is through somehow.
