Bairstow's unmerited Selection.

Why 2 Wicketkeeper keep getting selected in the team by England? Does england not have any SPECIALIST batsmen with world class fc record that they are playing a 2nd NON-specialist batsman (a wicketkeeper) with poor record, technique.
What did he do in the first place to deserve a place? A singular matchwinning slogfest against battered india in 2011 ODI series?
Is he selected on merit? Ofcourse not, but on wild blind hope he would turn out good.
England are simply wasting chance to develop young batsmen with better technique, temperament, recorda and experience such as Taylor and Ballance into a truly great batsmen.
Bairstow will likely end up with averages befitting a WK(mid 30).
His FC Record is poor.
So England, stop playing a NON-Specialist batsman and play some ACTUAL batsman who has potential to turn out a great batsman some day.

what exactly do you KNOW Kharse? i bet you wouldn't have given Goochie another go when his first scores for England were 0, 0, 6 & 31 would you??! Thankfully the selectors can see talent. Barstow willl take over the gloves once Prior is gone

I have no problem with bairstow being seen as prior's successor behind the stumps but his undeserved place as no.6 is blocking way for some truly quality batsman developing into a great.

Hes in the teams as he is a Yorkshire lad. If he was from northants for example he wouldn't be near the team.

Northants = Division 2, Yorkshire = TOP of division one. Its undeniable where all the talent is coming from at the moment. Especially when you look at the emergence of players like Ballance, Rashid and Lees (who has just catapulted into the England A side!) I'm not pretending I am not biased but if you look at the history of English cricket, the record books are full of English Yorkshire players with fantastic records - Boycott, Hutton, Hoggard, Illingworth, Trueman...i could go on....
Not that other counties are not recognised. Just that they are not as good as Yorkshire ! ONLY Kidding before I get slated!

Cannot stand the Yorkshire bias in the media. It is like they are a nation within a nation:

"A strong Yorkshire means a strong England"

Wrong. Root and Bairstow are not test class yet and I suspect that Bairstow never will be.

well, lets see - we have won 7 of the last twelve tests and drawn 4. Seems pretty good to me.
Root has a test already over 40 and a one-day average of nearly 50, so seems to me like you are talking nonsense. He is only 22.
Clearly you aren't a Yorks fan but then i guess you are just jealous. A history of winning the County Championship far more times than any other county clearly shows that. I'd also take issue that you disagree about the strong Yorks strong England statement - Yorkshire were extremely powerful in the 1960's, an era which saw the emergence of some of the finest England players of any generation with Brian Close, Geoff Boycott, Doug Padgett, Phil Sharpe - i could go on...From 1968 England dominated test cricket playing 27 consecutive test matches without defeat, a period that remains unbeaten today. Oh yeah and who captained them? A YORKSHIREMAN by the name of Ray Illingworth.
Put your green-eyed god away

I'd rather see England selected all their players from yorkshire than from South Africa u-19.
See thats not the point.
If a player is good enough, then fair enough if he gets chance.
But selecting a player merely on basis of 1 slogawon in a meaningless ODI is not merited esp if the selection of that player is blocking the potential development of a truly great batsman.

who would you play then Kharse? I guess Taylor would get many peoples vote but he would be on trial which makes things difficult for him with only one test to go on.
If the selectors pick Compton then they would presumably demote Root - which is another backward step given they have decided Root is the preferred opener.
So do we pick someone else not mentioned yet? Again that presents a problem as you then don't give Bairstow a chance when he is in possession and also given he averages more in this series than Cook and Trott do at present!!
Its difficult....

Yes its difficult now, i admit.
But if you ask, i would be tempted to play ballance on current form(is scoring Tons for funs). But on merit, i would give Taylor a run.
Coz I sincerly believe that these 2 have potential to develop into a Giant player someday (like Ponting, Dravid, Pietersen) but I see bairstow as just some OK county player.
Even if they pick Extra bowler (stoke or Kerri), Bairstow's so-called batting wont be missed.
....
Oh, Root is world-class, he can score big when he gets his eye in.
He's Bradman-type player whose wicket, you got to, as opponent, take early, or he'll be impossible to get out. The way he played his debut match in alien condition like a man who's already attained greatness, tells me that he's Special.

Bairstow should not be playing test cricket as a batsman.

There are far better batsmen playing county cricket.
