So this morning a new group set up by the Town Greeners are going to take Bristol City Council to court because of their decision to only make part of the site a Town Green.
I presume that makes the plan to get work started in October obsolete. They presumably have been taking the last few months since the decision to raise the financial backing to pursue it through the courts, and of course to cause maximum delays to the project.
Hopefully the courts will see it for it is just a blatant attempt to stop the new Stadium at all costs even though they they now have been given a sizeable town green.
Either way it is a small minority with little support trying to steal what is not theirs and take away huge benefits to the local community in the process. Yes about as morally right as those idiots trashing their communities last night.
Town Greeners again

Good point there Le Rouge
What is the difference between the gangsters running amok and destroying their communities and these morons ruining the greater community in order to preserve their own property valuations. They must know that they would be very able to sell their properties to football fans who want to live in good homes.
Thing is, the 'countryside' that they are trying so hard to preserve will be gone in 3 or 4 years whether there is a football club or not. Like it or not, its called progress

If they want countryside, why dont they move to the lake district. There's loads of it there

Perhaps this time Mr Lansdown and his partners should take the 'village greeners' to court himself and make them repeat all their statements under oath as what they are currently doing amounts to attempted theft plus all these court appearences cost money and time.
This is land these protesters have never had any legal rights too so if they were using it then they were guilty of criminal trespass of which they would be admitting if they repeated their assertions that they had been using someone elses property for their dog toilet, as the land has been owned, in my understanding, by the Waste disposal company - Bristol City Council then Mr Lansdown, and its not even as though they can say whilst it was owned by the council thatt as ratepayers they should be allowed access to it they DON'T pay rates to Bristol they are under a different council.
Just a whimsical thought crossed my mind, what if a few thousand City fans took their dogs for a walk through these protesters gardens so the dogs could avail themselves of the natural facilities, bet they would scream the place down demending the Police arrest those trespassers but whats sauce for the goose etc.

If they want a bigger town green tell them to cross the road to Ashton Court the biggest green space in the country. The court should throw this matter out as they have been given a percentage of land designated as town green they could of had more of the land if they had taken Steve Lansdowns offer to split the land in the first place but they declined and the councils decision was made and they ended up with a smaller percentage thats there fault for being too greedy and stupid. Hopefully this matter will be over soon and we can get on with building our stadium ready in 3 years...
