Seriously you'd think someone had died with all the whining (not naming names) on the Arsenal board...
Flamini cost nothing, low risk, a good squad player and we've been crying out for a DM for ages.
I flat out refuse to accept that we won't have signed at least 3 more players before the end of the window, including one class signing.
Spurs have bought loads of players, spending quite recklessly in my opinion. They're taking a big risk, if (not saying it will happen), they miss out on CL again this year, they'll be in deep shiiiit.
Yes they have signed some good players, but how come none of the bigger clubs were in for any of them?
As for Lamela, never seen him play, don't believe that many on this board will have seen much of him either. £30M is a lot for a player who is still pretty young.
I dunno, I just can't buy into this media shiiit storm that we're in crisis and are not going to be competitive this year.
The fact is Wenger is not an idiot, he's frustratingly sensible at times, but it's for that reason we're in such a good position financially, whatever happens he'll leave us with a great legacy, and whoever takes the reigns will have a dream job.
He knows as well as a lot of us should, that we do have a strong first team, it's just very light currently. It's been proven many times that throwing money about doesn't necessarily guarantee success (unless your Man City, but that's a whole different league to Spurs' spending) and even then they don't have loads to show for it, considering they've been rich for years.
We just have to wait until after the window closes to pass final judgment, if we go out and beat Spurs this weekend, no one will be complaining.... Well I'm sure some will, but that's just the way it is around here.
I'm sure I'll get lambasted as an AKB or whatever it is, but I'm just trying to be realistic.

Thatman
Just thought I'd give an outsiders perspective.

Signing people early on in the window shows we have ambition and other players are more likely to join.
What kind of message have we sent to other teams players by leaving our signings this late? Will they want to sign for a team that looks ambitionless?

Which one is it? Do we have no ambition or do we have ambition but can't get players to join?

Whichever you think it is. Each as bad as each other.

I think ambitionless is the wrong word, like I said in my OP, it's just being sensible, and like it or not that's how Wenger operates and therefore how the club is run.
I think it certainly has its merits, how many teams have frivolously spent and ended up in a much worse position because of it? Leeds, Portsmouth etc.
I know we're much stronger financially than they ever were, but still, there's a lot of risk.
I also think that there's a lot of apprehension in Wenger, with paying a lot of money for a player.
Totally agree with AWW as well, if it was a different player with the same level of ability, that cost £15M, fans would be pleased.

Could never have guessed even with the username Mr. Chelsea
My point was referring to Mr.C's team of choice it was a general comment that even Spurs fans perspectives are even accepted...sometimes.

Also I don't buy into the whole opinion that if you don't spend loads on players you have no ambition.
To me the Emirates Stadium shows huge ambition, much more so than a £30M player.
I still think we're feeling the knock on effects, and the financial implications of building it.
Like I said, just my opinion.
