I have to disagree with you liw, Delph showed he can play well in league 1 whereas Byram held his own in the championship at a young age

Lets hope he has a good season again and that the injury won't have damaged his good form to much

it wasnt elph fault leeds was in League 1.
We are talking potential, delph had huge talent, that why all clubs were after him.
Whos been after byram.
Delph stood out like a sore thumb

Don't see Delph having more potential. Different positions, so not really comparable, but he was more eyecatching cause he was a centre mid.
In terms of a right back, Byram was brilliant, not only at the defensive side, but also overlapping.
Clubs will pay more for an attacking player or midfielder, so that's why Byram won't go for the same sort of price as Delph did.
£3million for a right back who's had 1 season is a lot of money. I doubt any club will go over that. But that doesn't mean he's not worth more than that for us.

I'll put a wager on that in a few years Byram plays either within or just in front of the back 4.
He won't be a RB all his career. Just have a feeling about it from what i've seen of him.

Delph went for more money.
Delph went to villa when they were chasing top 5.
Delph was stood out in a more scrutinized position.
That being said...
Silencing of Zaha, Matt Jarvis and Bale.
Great finish that cup game.
Byram stood out in a harder league
Having seen both id say Delph has the higher star potential, better technically, better physically, and has that something beneath his badge.

Mike
And apart from Delphs start to this season, the Villa fans were wondering exactly what they'd paid £8m for. Injury problems apart he was woeful and a very forgettable loan spell ended in injury back at ER.

The lad has been injury stricken tho. If he hasnt played regularly he cannot be accurately judged.

As has been said Bale started as a full back....
There is not one reason why Byram should not follow suit in the next few years....

byrams not the trickey nor the speed to play as a natural winger beyond the championship. Good cross and good overlapping, pefect for rb.
Think he could play cm but don't think he should, would he really be better in cm than mowatt? i think byram should stick to rb as his main position, obviously if needed can play elsewhere.
