Premier League Leaders

For years there have always been the superstar players in the prem who were guaranteed to be leading the goals and assists charts come the end of the season. I'm talking about the guys who everyone new were going to be the catalyst for any success their team has.

From
Henry and Van Nistlerooy
to
Gerrard and Lampard
to
Ronaldo and Torres
to
Drogba and Rooney
to
Fabregas and Tevez

But for the first time, this coming year I can't think of who the superstars are going to be... Torres, Lampard, Gerrard and Drogba all look shadows of their former selves. Van Persie is too injury prone and Tevez & Fabs appear to be heading off.

In fact the only person i can think of who fits the bill is our Wayne!

What about Sneijd..?

Seriously though OP, I take your point.

There aren't too many "bums on seats" type players right here and now. Maybe they'll become apparent as the season progresses though?

Could Bale live up to his hype? Could Torres rediscover his form of old? Could RVP play a whole season?

Maybe even one of your own youngsters will become the subject matter of many an evening conversation in the pub?

In many ways, it's quite exciting I'd say.

Here's to "next big things" then.

I think you are forgetting that Nani !

Without him we wouldnt have come 2nd behind Chelsea 2 seasons ago or 1st last season or to the CL final!

Would have been Nasri and Nani but both faded 2nd half of the season.

It's certainly unpredictable, maybe I would have classed Nani as one but i think Young will be taking all free kicks and corners and sharing a lot of the burden from Nani.

As for Nasri & Bale there second half of the season was inconsistant at best.

I think that it could well be Nani.

Perhaps Augero?

Saurez also deserves a mention.

"SAUAREZ

NANI"

I think United could win the Prem without Nani this year (so long as Valencia and Young stayed fit) and Rooney is more important to the team. Also I don't think Suarez and Agureo have done enough to compare them to any of the players in the OP.
