The England manager like all managers before him is clueless he doesn't know what system or which players to use. He continues this English policy of playing guys on reputation, Lampard and Gerard have done nothing for England, why does he continue to ignore the fact, England needs Carrick Wilshere Cleverley midfield they are technical compared to those two tanks above. The game is won in midfield, everyone can see Walcott is frustrated with lack of service and for Gods sake Milner is sheet, and Rickie Lambert is championship player, can't we find any other CF in whole of England? Roy is poor manager.

We'd all be happy if Gerrard retired

I think Gerrard was alright last night Thudd.
Lampard on the other hand should now be told 'Thanks for the 100 caps and goodbye'.

Both should give it up before the end of this campaign so the next batch can come through

They should but they'll both end up on the plane to Brazil.
Not that the next lot look that great. At least Gerrard and Lampard get goals I suppose. Wilshere and Cleverley don't look like they do goals.

to be fair Lampard and Gerrard were given a chance early (as both have 100+ caps)
so why not give cleverly and wilshere a go?
along with zaha, walcott, Oxlade c, Welbeck etc
at least we would be given a chance to get behind a team that were not part of the most overrated england team of all time
it will take time, but what else do we have going on?

I don't get why the English coach doesn't start fresh, lampard, Gerrard , cole, Barry , all the old school should be booted out, start fresh with young players and build towards a new technical team, it's not that hard , the English nation team is a real snore, not creativity , vigour , just a bunch of guys together professing their love for England but never truly expressing it

we wouldn't even qualify for tournaments with the dross coming through

Wouldn't he be doing the same if he built a team around Wilshere. I agree that Carrick should be in the team, he been consistently good for years now, but Wilshere is not playing well enough to justify being in the England team right now.

Roy is not 'killing Jack' fffffffs.
As usual, all the calls are for 'out with the and in with the new' etc. Our 'new' aren't exactly setting the world alight are they?
It gets tedious after a while. The sooner the bigger clubs start TRULY investing in English talent as opposed to 'hovering up' any potential for the fear of a rival getting them, and stop spending HUGELY on foreign players, then the better the National Team will be. But those days are long gone imo. Could the OP stand the abuse of a nation when his exciting 'new faces of England' falls flat on it's face? I truly doubt it.
It really is that simple

And while you're on the subject of playing people out of position................................AW should never have stuck Theo on the wing. He should've been Englands next Michael Owen but Arsene thought differently, and wrongly, for both club and country.
