Some of the stuff I read on here is embarrassing. It is ok to be optimistic and have hope for a good season but garbage like 'we are on the verge of greatness', that we don't need new players to compete for the title, that we will win 5 CL's in the next decade () is just embarrassing and makes us look like a bunch of deluded idiots.
For the first time in over 2 years, I am actually enjoying watching us play and think we can have a decent stab at the title this season but there is not a hope in hell that we are going to win it. You don't go from scraping 4th to closing and overturning a 20+ point gap in the space of a year. Even Chelsea and City with all their millions did not make up those gaps immediately so why are people assuming Arsenal are going to?
It is just childish really, at the end of the day. Just sit back and enjoy the ride and don't put unrealistic expectations on the team because you'll end up falling flat on your face. Our squad is tiny and still lacking quality in certain areas of the pitch. What we should be hoping for this season is progression and entertaining football. My expectations are to qualify from our CL group which will be very difficult but it can be done. I also expect us to go on a cup run in the FA Cup and try to win it. If we finish in the top 4 and within 10 points of the leaders I will be happy.
We won't win the league

You can't really take the table seriously until after 15-20 games

Lets be honest and say you have played one decent team this season and you lost.
Then you had a squeaky 1-0 win against Palace and another penalty win against Swansea, then yesterday a comfortable 2-0 win against Norwich.
Hardly groundbreaking or impressive. Wait until you play a decent team away from home (other than us of course). That's why we can only draw tentative conclusion in another 5 or 6 games time.

True and yet still on same points and goal difference as Arsenal. Arsenal have scored more goals, yet we've kept more clean sheers. No more or no less impressive than Arsenal really who also haven't played anyone tough apart from ourselves.

Difference is we won that tough match and THEN signed Ozil. So you can see why us Gooners are tres confident of finishing above you lot AGAIN.

Think Arsenal and Spurs have a realistic shot at the title.
City have looked distinctly average so far this season, Chelsea has just become a circus with Mourinho back at the helm, do not think he will do as well as Benítez did because he is such an ego.
United will be vulnerable without Fergie so I think boot will be making up the same gap as last year because nobody will get as many points as united.
Think it will finish:
City
Chelsea
Arsenal
United
Spurs
Liverpool.

Being at your home ground makes a difference I should think.

Progression is all I want this season. I said even before we signed Ozil, I would only be happy if we got within 10 points of the title or with top 4 and a trophy. I'm glad we have the players to achieve that now.

Personally think spurs have got a very solid squad. Also been very impressed with how they press, especially in home games.
I do believe we have a stronger 1st team who have now had a season together and know there roles.
However, Spurs will be up there challenging with us for top 4.
They have a far superior squad to pool and I won't be surprised if Chelsea get involved also in the battle for cl places

We have a chance to win the league. Arsene has money to go out and buy another £30m+ player in Jan. How many clubs can say that? City and Chelsea have issues with FFP and even they can't go and splurge in Jan.
However what everyone expected in the summer is true. Mourinho is not going to find it as easy as he did the first time around. Pellegrini has found out weaker teams are better at defending than in Spain. Moyes has to live up to Fergie's legacy with an aging first team.
We have a real chance.

Agree with Jenius here.
While I can't take people who make these kind of statements seriously :
" that we will win 5 CL's in the next decade"
I do think we are in with a chance of the league this year. An outside chance, but a chance still.
Look at United. They are huffing and puffing so far, one Van Persie injury and I think they will struggle big time.
City just don't look right to me. Pellegrini needs time but a title in the first season, at the moment, doesn't look likely.
I really like the look of our team now. Flamini, who was fairly good against Sunderland, brings experience and leadership to the midfield.
Ramsey is finally turning into the player he should have 2 years ago.
And of course, Mesut. What a player.

No chance Spurs will be close to us this season. With Ozil the gap has widened and will get bigger.
