Youngs "simulation" this weekend.
There actually was contact and I am sure that it wasnt even the worse case of "simulation" in the league over the weekend. It was the same 18 months ago against QPR I think when he was last picked out for special mention.
Considering Bale got booked 5 times last season for simulation and we have had people like Ronaldo, Drogba and Suarez grace the league with their acts of going to ground easily, I cannot remember a case before where a single dive got so much attention in the premier league.
Can anyone give a reason why this case has received so much attention?
Is it a case of people are finally sick and tired of this happening or that he is being singled out.

Are you just trying to provoke a reaction?

some challenges whether intentional or reckless just deserve to be punished with a penalty.

I'll leave you to it. You seem barely able to construct a sentence.

"If there is contact from the defender of course you are entitled to go down!"
Everything that's wrong with the modern game.

Personally I think the art of defending is alot to do with whats wrong with the modern game
The amount of cheating you see from defenders is absolutely enormous in comparison to the amount of diving
Defenders will do allsorts out of sight of the ref
Shirt pulling is an absolute joke for starters
When Young went down v QPR a couple of seasons back, the Qpr player was behind him with his arm outstretched touching Young's back. Why the hell was he doing that? Illegally trying to put him off is why.

Some people talk about diving like it's the worst thing ever to happen on a football pitch, it doesn't really bother me though.
At the top level you have take any opportunity you can to win a game, if you can draw a foul from a defender in the box or con the ref into thinking you've been fouled then you have to do it, there's no point losing the Champions League final but being pleased with the best sportsman award. The sportsman award doesn't win trophies, stop teams from being relegated or stop managers from getting the sack.
On the Sunday Supplement this weekend the journos were talking about banning diving from the game, how would you do that exactly? there are some refs who would have given a penalty for Youngs simulation against Palace, others would just play on and others would book him, a lot of the time a dive can be subjective depending on who's viewing it.

Macca, that's a fair point. It's been a slow transition over the past 7 or 8 years, just changing peoples attitudes has been the main thing.
I hear commentators now saying things like "very intelligent foul there, his manager will be pleased" and I just despair. What kind of attitude is this for kids who play football to watch and take out onto the pitch?
Your example about shirt pulling is a good one, because it's such a clear thing, and surely so easy to stamp out? At the end of a season, the PL could easily say from next season onwards any shirt pulling noticed by the ref is a red card and if not noticed by the ref it will be retrospectively punished.

I would say that for any clear forms of cheating
Diving
Shirt pulling
Illegal holding
etc
3 match ban and increase it to 4 then 5 etc for subsequent offences
Shirt pulling and diving would disappear overnight and defenders will all have to come in for extra training afterwards to learn the art of defending again
Another thing that irks me is the way corners are defended. For a defender, it isn't about making a challenge for the ball, it's all about how many of the opposition players they can obstruct off the ball

some players are very clever at disguised fouls all over the pitch and some do make calculated risks in and on the edge of the box. Perfect recent examples were david luis and eden hazard against everton on saturday.
