FC Halifax Town 1-1 Hereford Utd.

Another home game for Town this Saturday.

Hereford United the visitors who stand in 16th spot on 11 pts.
The Shaymen should have no trouble dispatching this lot,
After 9 games, Town sit in 6th position with 16 pts.

They- Hereford- started well enough but have faded somewhat this last week or two & lost 3 on the bounce ! May that continue on Saturday ...
Their top scorer up to now is SHARP = 2 goals .

By contrast Town have 3 strikers knocking them in..
Gregory 4
Gardner 3
Holsgrove 3....
I think the 'Bulls' will be in for a tough afternoon.
& to endorse that, check out these 'stats'....
TOWN's home games so far.
v Wrexham, won 3-2 ...1,674.
v Dartford, won, 2-0... 1,296.
v Southport, won, 1-0... 1,583.
v Barnet, won, 2-1........1,671.
v Grimsby, won, 4-0......1,602.

They have to be confident of taking 3 points from this one,
But the crowds are pretty much set at 1,600,
Chester City in 2 weeks time, Will the Shaymen 'crack' 2000?

another win,
will the crowd 'top' 1,800 ?

or maybe 1-1

preserves the unbeaten home form at least, but expected the 3pts.

FCHT will also share my disappointment with the leeds result as a draw would have returned £100.

What was the crowd at the shay?

Mornin' fellas

very early here & 'peaceing' darn !

Just had a catch up with the comments,
Champers has pretty much put you in the picture 'FC'.
& Like Champers said, I'm a local lad who just happened to watch Udders most of the time, But I suppose (& assume) like Sir Ken & Champers, always used to go darn the Shay & cheer 'em on from time to time...
& still would/will, as and when return trips allow.

I was also a HRLFC home & away fan, & attended the 'Dukes' fixtures on that banked 'Best track in the UK' Speedway era
(side note Champers. Mirf & Boots also used to turn up to watch the Speedway )

That 13 thou turn out will have to be a disappointment after 5 home wins on the bounce & being newly promoted to a higher league.
This will have the commercial management team wondering what, if any thing can be done to improve the situation & to get more through the turnstiles on a regular basis.
hate to bring this up but,

is the admission charge an issue ?
I ask this because I think I am right in saying it was cheaper to Watch Hudders v Charlton the other night than get to see Fax play Grimsby
It's a tricky one, which ever way you look at it.

I thought 1,800 wasn't too expectant for todays game,
yet to be 300 less than the recent 'average' has to be a disappointment -or...
is two home games in a week a sign of the economic times ?

I'm not sure Darn, but it always seems to me that the real "buzz" occurs once word gets around that Town are either top of the table or playing really good stuff.

Most of this problem for me comes from the lack of media coverage, particularly from the Courier.

I don't buy that filthy paper anymore for personal reasons I won't divulge, but I do know that whilst town were in the wilderness divisions the coverage was peace poor. Some guy called Dave Fletcher was doing all the coverage and to be honest, he's not a very good writer. You know it's bad when the local crown green bowls gets more column inches than FCHT

If the performances and results continue there will be a gradual rise I think, but to start topping 2,000 they're gonna have to be in with a shout of automatic promotion.

I was there a few seasons ago against Lancaster when 4,000 turned up to watch us blow them away 4-0 on a lovely sunny day so it shows the potential is definitely there

You could be right there mate.

I know folk turned out years ago for 'big' cup ties & the like. Now...
here is what I think might make things different especially if Town are fortunate enough to claw their way back into the Football league proper..

For the 1st time in their history, They (& HRLFC) have got really good facilities. & once fans..more so the young un's start going darn there & seeing them winning they will be more inclined to keep doing so.

All conjecture on my part of course,
But The Old Shay was diabolical ....rank bad poor in the extreme. I knew a Young Blackpool fan years ago here in W.A. & he said The Shay was the worst ground he had ever been to,,,, ha ha , he wasn't far off the mark was he.

That no longer applies.
I reckon you are on the money there Champers..
More wins,
& a steady increase in regulars.

Here's hoping

I wonder if the fluctuations in away followings makes a big difference to the crowd? Certainly with more potential for more away fans this season, you would think the improved atmosphere/banter amongst fans would improve the matchday experience encouraging more fans to go again or tell their mates to get to matches.

The glory hunting culture certainly doesn't help matters either. You can go out in any town or city, north or south, and you'll see more kids in Man United shirts than you will those with pride or passion for their local side.

It's something I really won't ever understand. Imagine being stood on the Stretford End singing "West Yorkshire, w-nk, w-nk, w-nk", or "Lancashire is wonderful"

I've taken stick from people on here for not giving my thumbs up to Bradford City's cup run last year but that's only because I'm so fiercely proud of my Fax roots that those up t'hill get so deep under my skin.

Trouble is, we're losing that. Kids don't want to go and freeze on the Skircoat Road of a Tuesday night when they can watch Robin van Persie on Sky and chat to all their other ignorant little friends about it at school the next day.

I don't think people realised it back when the formation of a 'Premier League' was founded back in 1992, but this cash cow was going to knock a massive nail in the coffin of bonafide lower league clubs. And now everyone does, it's just too little too late.

Noted your inclusion of HxRLFC too Darn. How sadly ironic that the towns rugby side is yet another to be f-cked over by their own sports elite division, albeit much more directly

Yeah saw one walking the streets today (West Yorkshire) before the derby, sadly didn't see any afterwards

Even saw a Tottenham shirt on my way to Elland Road yesterday
