After a 2 weeks break for the internationals, 5 games into the new season..Town (and some other clubs) are now faced with 7 games in 21 days...before another 2 week break .....
By the time we play Blackpool on Friday night (thread will be up on Wednesday), Town will have played 5 games in a fortnight.
I know the arguments that we'd rather play then be training...but this 'stop - start' season is crazy...no time for players to 'recover' from knocks and strains and only the larger clubs with bigger squads can successfully rotate the players without dropping points.
So will Robins be justified in 'resting' some players for the Hull game on Tuesday...for sure Hull will be...as I'm sure the 3 points available against Blackpool on Friday are more important ?
We've a few on the fringe...Lopez, Carr, Ward, Woods, Wallace...and a few who might need games...Norwood, Scannell, Gobern, Stead, Southern, Paterson......so should we give Vaughan, Clayton, Hogg, Hammill, Lynch etc a rest on Tuesday ?
Fixtures shambles....

nice try Darn...
Our 1970 promotion season was the last time we played 3 games in 4 days over Easter...link here --

The only grass on the pitch was by the corner flags and on the wings...otherwise it was 'baked earth'...can you imagine our Prem players trying to play footy on that surface nowadays...they'd have knee and elbow pads.... but maybe it would stop them throwing themselves to the floor every 2 minutes
Towards the end of the season when the drier weather came along you used to get the occasional 'dust storm' blowing around the pitch with the odd 'whirlwind' twisting it's way around the players...
them we'rt days lad...

seems a lack of Tuesday night games this season??
I think that was to do with the financial situation and not wanting too many midweek away trips for fans???
