Peterborough play Sunderland south of the river, whilst Leeds play Newcastle north of the river.
The Posh stand a good chance of winning their game, provided that the team recovers from Saturday's 9-men-V-13-men exertions against the MK Dons.
The pressure will be on Di Canio and his team not to lose another game. Di Canio worries that his team has not geled - the same worries do not afflict Ferguson. Di Canio could do with an Assombalonga and a Tomlin in his team. These two will be showcasing their silky premiership-like skills.
If we score an early first goal, the Sunderland fans will start to turn on their team and a Posh win will be on the cards.
I can see home losses both sides of the river.
The Black Cats V The Posh (League Cup)

1-0 to the Black Cats who are well on top. We'll need to score next, or we're scuppered. Trouble is, Tomlin's out of it.

1-0 at half-time. It'll be interesting see what Fergie's half-time talk will do. Early equaliser needed.

That's better Posh.

Tommy Rowe off now injured - not good for the Rotherham game.

2-0. Sunderland too good for Posh in the first half. A heartening result for their fans.
As for the Posh, the main thing is that Tomlin and Rowe recover for the Rotherham game.

Hope the injuries aren't too serious!

Cruciate ligament damage was the rumour, SirKen. On the other hand, Posh are taking ex-Poshie Paul Taylor back on a short-term loan from Ipswich. If he plays to his potential (and can overcome his demons), Taylor will make a good proactive replacement.

P.S. In retrospect Sunderland's Ki Sung-Yeung nobbled Posh's danger man on Tuesday night. If he hadn't been fouled, the result might have been different.
