Giroud the new drogba?

Having watched arsenal this season is giroud going to be the next drogba in the premier league(Chelsea fans bare with me)?

Ok now he may never reach those heights but after a fairly poor start to his arsenal career similar to drogba at Chelsea and both coming from France, I can see giroud lighting up the league for a few years.

A lot of people are talking about ozil and Ramsey but IMO the main reason for arsenal starting well is giroud getting in the box and holding up play, something they have not had for years.
(Still think well finish above the gooners mind )

OP is 100%. Giroud is the new Drogba. In fact I think we should do blood tests in case Giroud actually IS Drogba.

Why all these comparisons? Giroud is Giroud and we should be happy and thankful that he turned out than just more then plan B. He has improved every aspect of his game and fits right in this Arsenal team.

Because it is a football forum for discussion maybe? I doubt giroud will ever be as good as Drogba but like I said he is the closest to making an impact like he did since drogba left the league.

There not really that similar of a player at all though.

Drogba was an aerial bully, he'd win every aerial battle and was great holding up the ball.

Giroud relies more on his movement behind defences and in between defenders for goals.

Drogba was a 26 year old striker from France who was over 6 foot and took a season to fully warm to the league, taking criticism for his first season despite an acceptable turnout.

Here ends the similarity.
