Who do ROI fans believe is our strongest starting X1 for the upcoming matches against Slovakia and Russia.
I have chosen some of the players based on the fact they have a lot of International experience so i have not included the likes of Clark, Coleman and Mc Carthy in my starting line up.
The fact that it getting increasingly more difficult to say who our best 11 would be is a sign of the improving strength of our squad.
Goalkeeper
Shay Given
Defenders
O'Shea
St Ledger

Treacy
Mc Geady

On the plus side Kevin Doyles latest injury is not as bad as feared according to Wolves manager Mick Mc Carthy

I thought it was an overall thing, didn't realise it was just for the Sept internationals. In that case I'd eith put O'Shea out right and put St Leger at CB or a straight swap with Stephen Kelly.

Your mad CP. I would have Ward, Clark, Cunningham and O Dea on before Kilbane.

Yip CP, can't imagine to many would have Zinidine as first choice.

I more meant if it was a straight choice between him and Ward. Left back is a bit of a weakness for us I think. I'd like to see someone who actually plays that position every week at club level in there. Out of our choices Cunningham is probably the ony one that applies to?
Now Newcastle have sold Enrique it'll be intresting to see what they do with Ferguson. And it'll be interesting to see what Ferguson himself decides to do as far as international football goes.

If Ferguson declares for us and lives up to his potential at Newcastle he would be the future of our left backs. But its a big if.

Cant beleive how much Kevin Foley gets overlooked by Trap, another nonsensical injustice picking McShane and even calamity Kelly over him. He's by far our most composed and Premiership experienced right back. I'd go with
Given
Foley, Dunne, St Ledger, Ward
McGeady Whelan /Wilson, McCarthy, Duff
Long, Keane

Forgot all about Foley. He is a valuble member of the squad imo and much better than Kelly. Why was he not in the last squad was he injured or what?

No idea, think Trap forgot about him??
