the club.
BM changed the size of the training pitch to match the size of the pitch we play our normal games on.
BM believes in the scouting route to find new players.
Brian Clough kept the game as simple as possible not wanting to confuse his players.
I would put a block on any future transfers into the club as our success has been poor to say the least in the recent past. Put money into the youth team and spend time on bringing the youngsters through. I think Gary Lineker is right in that we now put too much emphasis on players who can kick the ball the furthest and are physically the biggest. Let's coach basic footballing skills like passing, dribbling and keeping the ball in tight area. Hoof ball should be banned at our club and pass and move football brought on. We could be the new Barcelona within 5 years.
What change would you bring in to improve

Which of them teams had more than two players come out of the same youth team and make a real impact.
Liverpool have produced nothing
But I do agree with you about youth coaching
Total garbage in this country
I'd scrap age related teams and base it on size
All you get in this country is the biggest lad dominating the game and it's no help what so ever

Wakey has a very good point, size, big lads rule the game at a young age.
As I have said before on here, the problem is the pitches, muddy, sloped and too big for young kids,so hoof it up to the big lad who can muscle through.
English kids must play more 5 a side, indoors if need be,to learn how to play fast one touch footie on the deck.

Gerrard and Carragher were the 2i was thinking about at Liverpool. But now there is more emphasis on buying in talent

Walcott and Bale at Southampton
But your point still stands. It is difficult to rely on youth.

Poyet and personality? You mean he's another foreigner who stands at the side waving his arms about?
Let's see how he does at Sunderland before we put him above BM. I wouldn't want him back at Leeds anyway.

Youth and experience is the key to long term success. We do need to compete on the wages front across the board though. That's the responsibility of the owners. Getting shot of Bates is one thing, having the wherewithal to run a football club is another.

Hunwick I totally agree
I big factor, is the weather, for six months, you can only play inside

LIW I think the weather does play a part but for me this is used more as an excuse why we play hoof ball. We need to change the system and rely more on home grown players and bring back ball control and passing skills.

We'll be able to afford better wages when we've trimmed down the squad by getting shot of Brown, Pugh and some others. I reckon Mr McDermott has the idea of a leaner fitter probably smaller squad. He's already shown he's after younger players.
GFH are finding it is a steep learning curve. Personally I reckon as new boys, I think they're doing alright. They've brought in a couple of good initiatives and are probably planning more.
