PS3 generation run through.

Ello guys, frequent poster on the forest forums and all this time didnt know JA had a video games section .

Anyways, I got a ps3 pretty late into the last gen and im going back and playing all the games i've missed this gen before getting a ps4 around feb-ish. Wondering if anyones got any recommendations of games I should go back and play?

I've played last of us, uncharted series, ff13, imfamous 1+2, cods, fallout, and just finished the MGS series. Any other suggestions would be great.

The missus has got an xbox360 so any recommendation on xbox games wouldnt go far amiss

Thanks

Got a confession to make. I've not yet finished GTA 5 and I'm not sure when I will. Yes, it looks amazing and the world they have created is incredible. To be completely honest , I'm slightly...bored by it. I get that Red Dead had some repetition in it too, but I just found that more enjoyable to do.

Red Dead was the game of the generation for me.

I've already had plenty of brilliant moments but if I could change one thing about GTA V it would be to just have more missions in more places across the map. No missions involving a dam up in the mountains or on a racecourse? What? Not enough missions on Mount Chilliad. Would like more missions in general. But even then it's still one of my favourite games. What they have included is brilliantly playable, fun, the atmosphere's great and that's without thinking about the online. There will be add-ons at some point.

Red Dead arguably edged it just because that world was really magical. GTA IV was great too.

I agree Andrei, there just isn't enough variety in it to keep me interested and Red Deads world was just even more of a wow moment for me.

I wouldn't say there's a lack of variety. We are spoiled these days, it's an amazing world, diverse and massive, I just think there were parts of it that went to waste in the story.

There is for me in terms of the difficulty of the missions, they are just too easy. I think I may have just naturally come to the end of the GTA franchise though, having played it for so many years.

I agree, they have gotten easier. I think the checkpointing is a bit lenient and I'd prefer it to just send you back to the start if you die. Vice City had some rock solid missions where you had to get really lucky to do it first couple of goes, same with San Andreas. Most IV and V missions you can complete first time, especially with the checkpoints.

Well I loved the GTAV story and thought it was far more engaging and interesting than in GTAIV, where Niko was essentially just a hitman/mercenary/henchman working for different mobsters.

If you like any JRPG's then Ni No Kuni is an excellent game
Heavy Rain is also a great shout

Didn't like Hitman Absolution or Arkham City at all really.

Far Cry 3, Borderlands 2, Skyrim and GTA V are all must plays

Skyrim and GTA 5 are an absolute must

Id put those ahead of any other game out there...as a 1 player sandbox game.
