Who is the 2nd greatest manager in British

....football history? If we accept old rednose to be the greatest who is the 2nd best?In a few seasons you would expect Mourinho to eclipse Arsenes trophy count in the domestic game but can he be considered to be a better manager? Can Shankley,Clough be considered superior to Wenger and Mourinho?

I think Arsene is the 2nd greatest manager in British football history and unless someone wins enough trophies to challenge Fergie's haul he will remain the 2nd best.

his management style has attracted many offers (More than Fergie) from abroad and still commands respect allover.Obviously it helps that he speaks several languages but I think his management style is what wins people over.

Brilliant man who unlike AVB and Rafa, totally ignores the media and keeps his eye on the ball.An example to any manager who wants to be successful in the game.Even John Henry admitted that Liverpool were copying the Arsenal template before he had his Suarez twitter rant.

Arsene for me!

Mourinho maybe gives him a run for his money, but I think Wenger edges him.

Didn't Wenger get voted manager of the decade or something? Anyone know the criteria for that?

Not saying he is manager of the decade btw, before you "8 years" buffoons jump on me.

Smith didn't have a competitive Celtic to compete against.

Celtic at the time were in a financial mess and were miles off the pace. At times Aberdeen and even Motherwell were closer challengers than Celtic.

I like Walter Smith, he did a fantastic job but he was very much a chequebook manager and towards the end of his career was extremely negative in his tactics. He bored his way to the UEFA cup final for instance.

And for the record, Jim McLean was a better manager than Smith.

Yes - he interupted managing Dundee United during the 80s to make the best Christmas movie ever.
