Match Preview
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to end a turbulent week on a positive note when they travel to St Mary's to take on a Southampton side also desperate to return to winning ways.Andre Villas-Boas was dismissed as head coach following last Sunday's calamitous 5-0 loss at home to Liverpool, and the focus has already turned to who will replace him at the helm.Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is among those to have been linked with the vacant role, although he insists there has been no contact from Spurs yet.Pochettino is reportedly in the frame after earning rave reviews for his work at Southampton, although the last few weeks have been rather more difficult following a five-match winless run.Southampton's performances have still been impressive in the past couple of games as they have drawn 1-1 with Manchester City and Newcastle United, but they have dropped to ninth in the standings and will be determined to pick up three points to set them up for the rest of the festive schedule. All eyes will be on Tim Sherwood in the Tottenham dugout after he was handed the reins on a temporary basis following Villas-Boas' departure. He took charge for the midweek Capital One Cup tie against London rivals West Ham United and suffered an agonising 2-1 defeat as two late goals knocked them out of the competition. It was another frustrating day after the embarrassment of the heavy loss against Liverpool, which left Spurs seventh in the table and five points adrift of a place in the top four, with a goal difference of minus six.

TOTTENHAM Team News
Interim Spurs boss Sherwood can welcome back skipper Michael Dawson from suspension after he missed the midweek League Cup loss to West Ham, but Paulinho is still banned following his red card against Liverpool. Andros Townsend is out with a hamstring injury, while Younes Kaboul and Jan Vertonghen are also still missing, as Sherwood considers making changes to the side that faced West Ham.Emmanuel Adebayor started alongside Jermain Defoe in attack and will be hoping to keep his place after scoring a fine goal.
Southampton Team News
Nathaniel Clyne will be assessed ahead of the clash with Tottenham after returning to training for Southampton following a hamstring injury. Adam Lallana and Morgan Schneiderlin came on as half-time substitutes in last weekend's draw at Newcastle and are likely to return to the starting XI.Artur Boruc (fractured hand), Victor Wanyama (calf) and Danny Fox (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Did anyone else notice all the sly remarks by sherwood and ade on avb? Don't like to see that

We'll probably leave Carroll out on loan and try loan Bentaleb out also

More than anything, Bentaleb has pretty much sealed Livermore's departure.

That's the benefit of giving Tim the job. He was been working very closely with the youngsters for a few years now so knows all about them. Also, I bet he had them playing a certain way, so to mimic that playing style with the first team will mean the youngsters can adapt easily when introduced to first team football.

Sherwood is willing to give the kids a chance which I like, Bentaleb has certainly played his way in to the first team squad
-------------------
and what happens if he plays like dogshít for the next 2-3 games...?

We shouldn't get carried away about anything yet - Bentaleb, Sherwood, Ade.

We should just enjoy it and hope it continues.

Thanks Hengy
