Not a clever thing to do in my view, I wouldn't want to raise expectancy if I didn't have the finances to fund equally good players. Although, admittedly, promises of spending in the summer would probably be accepted by the majority, after all we don't want panic buys and there's never any value in January!

Thanks, Midders.

92 comments over 3 weeks eh?

But it's working so far, Ken. The crowds are up and everyone is happy and singing the manager's name. People are even convincing themselves that the summer signings were good.

Everyone seems to be buying into the idea that it's a long term project. I don't know how long they'll keep getting away with it but while they still can, they will.

"Can somebody explain what the club/a manager gains from "spinning" a story such as the Gradel one?"

Negotiation leverage with other clubs/players. "Too expensive, we are pursuing Mad Max too you know, Mate!"

Did he do a similar thing with Becchio or is that way off the mark?

Yes he did.

I remember him spending a long time talking about how he didn't want to talk about him.

It's pathetic really, talking up players who have done well in our recent past and giving fans false hope.

No Clive, I'm not going to again, we've been through this all before.

You get so get up you start making stuff up and getting into arguments with all and sundry and as a consequence get banned from forums you're involved in on a regular basis.

One would have thought that would be a lesson to you to not abuse people so much and try and engage in less vitriolic debate.

Just one small example would do.

I got banned for making a thread suggesting that it would be good for us if McDermott took the Ireland job.

I didn't get into any arguments because I left that thread overnight and when I came on the next day I'd been banned.

It's other people who abuse me and fall over themselves to get me banned just because they don't like my opinions.

But I'd much rather people swear at me and call me names than the passive aggressive **** you come out with.

Oh look I've used asterisks again, I hope I haven't offended you...

I thought Clive got banned for inserting Simon Grayson into every single comment he made, regardless of the thread topic?
