Chelsea to gazump Liverpool over Salah

Chelsea have launched a late bid to rival Liverpool for FC Basle forward Mohamed Salah.
Sportsmail revealed Liverpool's interest in the Egypt international and talks were reaching an advanced stage until last night when Chelsea made a rival bid of £11million.
With Juan Mata sealing his exit to Manchester United, Chelsea have looked to replace the Spaniard with Salah who impressed against them in the Champions League this season scoring in both of their group stage games, including the winner in Switzerland.

Basle though, sensing an auction, have asked for £16m for the 21-year-old and will now await improved offers.
Salah's preference is understood to be Liverpool as he believes he will get more game time but Chelsea's financial muscle could yet persuade him and his club.
Liverpool are reluctant to go beyond £12m and talks were ongoing last night for a player who has scored 17 goals in 27 games for Egypt.

Willian. Gives 100% (I'm sure he does). When on the field? now that's a tricky one. Has he played more often than not? Is he the No.1 choice? Does he ever, perchance, spend the odd moment of two on the bench? Does Salah like sitting on the bench? I think we should be told.

On the money aspect, 100k at Chelsea will probably work out to the same as 70k at Liverpool with the cost of luxury living down there in London.

Liverpool now set contracts to be highly incentivised, where performance is a large part of the weekly pay packet. If a player wants to work hard for the team he'll get his reward. Just look at Suarez...

Yeh but playing for Liverpool would also mean you have to live there.

Well if its a lifestyle choice fair enough, would've thought he'd want to play as many games as he could though.

Cost of living isn’t really that relevant, at the luxury end they’ll be paying the same for day to day living and in terms of accommodation they tend to buy a house and sell it when they leave, it isn’t like they are paying rent they’ll never get back.

Forget signing more 'potential'

We've got Allen yet to convince, Borini on loan, Aspas & Alberto looking lightweight, Sterling needing game time, Phillippe and Victor Moses. Before we look at youngsters like Ibe.

Having just got rid of Downing at great cost I have no idea why we are trying to spend the money on a winger in January.

Get a top class DM Brendan. We need that above any one else!

And jamal lascelles didnt want to play for Everton, despite your underhand tactics!

You've paid more in fines for not signing lascelles than what you bought Coleman for!
