It stands out like a sore thumb how Utd could do with another an all round midfielder in the team. Utd need a midfielder who can boss the midfield , a midfielder who bursts into the box and scores , score with his head , a midfielder who can shoot from distance , a midfielder who has an all round passing game.
We had this player - it was Paul Scholes. He could do all those things , how many past or present Man Utd Midfielders could do all them ? Its now really starting to show how badly Utd miss him. To me he is the greatest Utd player of all time. If we could get a player who could do one of those things above , Utd might get somewhere.
There will never be another Scholes !

"How does your rebuttal have any relevance to what I said?"
I addressed your joke of post with my initial paragraph. Tis amusing seeing you mock Arsenal scraping into the top 4 when your team's sole ambition is to do that this season.
The first line you made up about Ozil holding out for a move to United just sums you up. A blatant lie really. I guess I would've been telling myself that very same lie if I had the misfortune of being a Manc.

f course Paul Scholes was a brilliant player, but I'm not sure I would have him in my all time 5 best players (all teams, not just Utd),

thats because you are clueless about football.

sorry I misread that. I thoughtyou said you would put him yr top five. Apologies
Scholes was a great, great player for United. He wasnt Bobby Charlton or Bryan Robson or even a Roy Keane but he in a period of very, very poor English Players (1995-today) he as by far the best of his generation)

He was better than Robson and Keane, by some distance too. He was as hard as both, both far more technically gifted, a better goalscorer, and far more intelligent.

RBW - even if someone had Paul Scholes in their top 5 players, does not make them clueless - it is simply a personal opinion, just as yours is in posts above. There are many fellow professional players, both home and abroad, who are quick to lavish praise on Scholes more than other players, so that does say something about his quality.
It is also difficult to compare Scholes to Robson and Keane because they had different attributes and roles for the team, Robson stood out in Utd and England teams, it's often forgotten about how good Keane was pre-Scholes, and because Scholes wasn't a 'headline grabber', his contributiob can be under-estimated.
All 3 were great players, and you could spend ages arguing for and against them, but saying people haven't a clue is just trying to be provocative rather than constructive?

no it isnt. saying scholes is the best ever United player of all time is provocative when he quite clearly isnt.

Of course ozil would prefer united to arsenal. Bet he wishes he was as good a Juan mata

RBW - saying Scholes is the best ever Utd player etc is simply someone's opinion (and not mine).
calling someone clueless (even in error) or 'You don't know what you are saying. You haven't a clue mate' is somewhat provocative. Of course you may disagree with that assessment, but I don't think it's an unreasonable one to make.
