Tom Cleverly

Hate the abuse he gets. I thought he was good at the start of yesterdays game and was average after that. Will be a decent squad player once we get 2 top class midfielders in.

The problem with Cleverly is that to be that small physically and offer very little creativity, then there is pretty much no use to you.

What was the score again?

Daft comment. The scoreline in a team sport doesn't necessarily indicate how well a player has performed. Liverpool drew today, but Sterling was class. He can't be held responsible for Toure's awfulness

---------------

Why is it, we're losing games for fun and we know who our quality players are and we know who are the ones ain't good enough.

If that's Cleverley playing well, then that's not much use when we're still losing

As a person it's horrible to get stick like he does.

But he is basically stealing money from the club, a premier league footballer he is not and never will be

He is a championship standard player at best. If he was foreign he'd have been flogged long ago.

No... Nearly every game, one of our wide men have been given pretty much free reign....

-----------------------------------

To a certain extent yes, but it wasn't as if they were given a license to do whatever they wanted during an entire game. Kagawa and Januzaj were still required to provide an option out wide and defensive support to Evra and Buttner which made our rough shape a 4-4-2.

It's daft because when you are discussing individual players, the team result does not in any way sum up how they've played. Surely this isn't difficult to understand???

Depends how strickly you want to define it, I guess... To me, 4-4-2 is two wingers, two forwards... This is not how we have lined up for the majority of the season

Yes, a group of individuals let us down time and time again, Cleverley is one of them, he never steps up, never has, only does 'just enough'. Surely this is not hard to understand?

I don't rate Cleverley but arguing against an individual player based on a team result is pretty silly imo. Very silly in fact and completely illogical

No team with Rooney in is ever a true 4-4-2 as he drops back and is allowed to, often as far as the centre circle. He is a problem in more ways than one. As he takes that no.10 position that both Kagawa and Mata prefer now and Januzaj will in the future. I can't ever seeing us playing with him as our lone striker again either. I expect RVP may get sold and Moyes does try and buy Cavani (good luck with that one !).

Well said! Rooney's poor positioning will always remain a problem for United but some reason people done see it.

He drops deep too much and cant see m to help himself. He doesnt not create enough chances like the top No.10's of the world and makes himself almost undroppable. The likes of Mata, Kagawa and Januzaj are more skillfully suited to play there.

Fergie used to stick Rooney on the left of central midfield when this became too obvious but Moyes cant. Even if we sign the best play-maker in the world we will still have the problem of fitting him around Rooney. I wish he can just happily play CMF.

Rooney as a Lone striker never works as a system rather more like a matter of luck. He also not as clinical as the other top strikers.
