For some strange reason I've been away from the news the past few days, I caught a snippet yesterday about Moyes saying 'no deal yet for Rooney' but thought all this talk of a new deal etc was just another way of rallying the troops for todays game (and thus thought nothing more of it!)... i was amazed when I woke up this morning!!!
To all those half wits moaning about £300k a week... Get a life!!!
We have just secured England's only first pick striker for the remainder of his career! All the rubbish over the summer about Rooney can go for me! Rooneys past it blah blah blah
Look at how he carried our team at the start of the season, and the rightful plaudits he received! Don't be fooled Chelsea and arsenal would kill for him... So what if Real and Barca wouldn't! He would be my first name on any team sheet...
And for all those no brains who turn everything to doom and gloom... How much do you think we would pay for a replacement...
£30 - 40 million to buy
£200 - 250k in wages over 4 to 5 years
It's the more financially sound option for a player who actually cares about the club... Not a mercenary!
GROW UP ALL OF YOU!!!
What a load of rubbish...

"Arsenal would kill for Rooney", he would be lucky to get half the wages you pay him, thanks but no thanks.

Arsenal would take him in a heartbeat, dont be silly now.

Not at that sort of wage,it would upset the whole wage structure, just think what wages will be demanded by any future big money signing you make,do you think that RvP will be happy playing at half the wages of Rooney
Don't think this has been thought through, got to be repercussions somewhere in the future.

The thing is, Rooney, in this transitional period at Utd, is by far the most important player, the right age, got the experience of winning league titles, playing in Europe, can be the 'go to guy' for our younger players. No one is saying that 300k isnt a ridiculous amount of money, but the way things are at Utd at the minute, IMO it was vital that we kept Rooney, with the money being branded about in football, 300k to Rooney at another club is probably too much, 300k to Rooney right now at Utd is probably about right, you gota think about what it would take Utd to replace him, probably about 40/50m and another 200k in wages.
Taking money/wages out of the picture, would Arsenal, Chelsea, Barca, Real take Rooney, ofcourse they would.

Nobody would doubt the quality of Rooney as a football player, but the repercussions of paying him £300k a week.will be felt in the not too distant future, not only at United but throughout the game.

Nah ... by the end of his contract, half the good PL players will be earning the same (or more)
