huddersfield town v baaarnsley

Match fix part deaux

last seasons game between the 2 saw us playout a beautiful draw which ended in town having the last laugh and sending posh back to where they belong league 1 and wiping the smile off that smug barsteward adrian durhams face
Now posh are wiping their a r s e s with their scarves
we also get the chance to make a new cowshed saturday were the blue n white block ultras will be massed and armed wi their smoke bombs n flares wi jacko leading the chants of your gonna get ur f oo king heads kicked in and if their is any trouble hes got his flask handy to clout u with

lets hope they come to play cos when a team closes us down and stops us passing it out from t back we have no plan b and end up losing a la wendies...this is wot I think dingles will do so we need a plan b....
for me I would go 4 4 2 and put danny ward back ont wing probably dropping hogg...then play pato up front wi wells and this would enable danny boy to whip some crosses in for wells to feed off which has been lacking...feed the wells n all that...also pato had found his scoring touch prior to injury and needs to be starting games now...trying to play like barcelona is ok but I think we have got obsessed with it and need to start getting that ball into t danger areas and get some goals!
Wells is impotent in our current style so come on robins sort it out...we can still play pretty football with a4 4 2 lineup and have more danger men on the field in the process!

So I reckon if we go about the game the right way their is only one winner....3-1 town

set em alight the blue n white

Your going home in a west Yorkshire ambulance

Town were grate, five different scorers and Wells man of match. I recon Town can go to Doncaster and win. Wardy was fantastic, he is class.

I thought Southern had a good game, after a shakey first 20 minutes...but had to judge against such a poor side like barnsley

typically dodgy first 15 minutes followed by playing higher up the pitch, winning the ball further up the pitch and attacking moves starting much nearer the opponents goal..
the 5 goals were a bonus for me.. defending up the pitch as a team was the key to winning the game firstly and then was they key to us making so many good chances and scoring 5 goals..
The two centre backs for Barnsley were quite clearly the worst pairing I have seen in professional football for sometime.. Being harried and chased by Wells is one thing, being physically bullied off bouncing balls etc by him is certainly another..
Is Keith Southern our new "fox in the box"???
Special mentions for Keith, Gerard(two very important pieces of defending from him at vital times),
Dixon, Ward.

Welcome back 38 Where have you been all this time, because this site needs all the punters it can muster.

I reckon your above post is only your third since early November 2013, which is not good enough, considering most of us always looked forward with great anticipation, to reading your detailed and accurate match summary's.

Have you just fallen out of love with Town? - or have you been on a long cruise? - or perhaps you've even had a change of job, which has taken you away from your desk, awaiting for your many phone calls? - or have you made enough cash now to retire and enjoy life more? - or perhaps you've emigrated to a warmer place?

Either way, it would nice if you along with Boots, Loui, Myth, Egg Nog Bob and and others, could up their posting levels for the remainder of the season, otherwise this site could die a slow lingering death.

So come on 38 and the others, get your r'ses back in gear, because you know we all really miss you.

mirf..

I have been away.. not prison or a death defying undercover operation in far flung places..

was a wee bit off for a while but am firing on all cylinders again..

Im all for town playing the passing game as long as its sharp and goes forward at every given opportunity.

We don't seem able to to play this possession from the back where you draw the opposition out and pass it through them, it does not work for us. We are so much better as a counter attacking side when we press further up and win it and shift it quickly.. We are never going to score from a quick break that starts on our own 18 yard line.
The Barnsley centre halves were shocking but both full backs didn't lack pace and we got behind them or double teamed them quite a lot simply because our attacks started further up the pitch. Wells has good pace but there isn't much pace anywhere else so we must work on getting players who are already running forward onto through balls etc.. Dixon does it well and finally hammil got one or two to run onto.
When we shove up and players are moving onto the ball instead of continuaslly receiving it whilst being stood still, we look as good as anyone.
When we defend outside the box and don't drop in unless its really, really necessary we look much better.
We can score goals, 3 x 5 this season confirms that and with 5 different scorers on Saturday it shows we can score from all over the pitch but its now a question of Robins being a bit braver with the tactics..
Having Lolley/scannell waiting to come on is clearly just a nice bonus.

Can't fault that 38
passing the ball across our back 3 (or 4) ten yards outside our penalty box hasn't seemed to work. Most clubs have sussed this out and just sit deep and wait.

Pressing further upfield, and making the tackles near half way rather than in our own penalty box certainly worked on Saturday. Quicker delivery and more support in the box.

The only thing we seem to miss out on is that 'through ball' to Wells..this lad is always moving and looking for the pass..he got a beauty in the 1st half which created Wards goal, then he got another in the 2nd half when he was brought down in the box.. If we could just find him more often I'm sure he'll be scoring goals for us again.

Im gutted that I was away with the family this weekend as it sounds like I missed a cracker of a game. Good to see us properly go at a team and tear them apart. On a personal note Im now worried I will be banned from the stadium as the last home game I missed was against Yeovil and we scored 5 then too!!!! It must be my fault, they get intimidated playing infront of me!

It sounds like Wells had a great match and it will have done his confidence the world of good to have people singing his praises. If hes being hacked down for a penalty then that means hes in a dangerous position with the ball and we want more of that!

What happened with the Barnsley players? It seems they were fighting or shouting at people??
