Seems as though if reports are to be believed Gedion Zelalem has been given a new contract with a reported wage of 30 grand a week. First off he is obviously a very talented player but yet he hasn't even started a premier league game yet and he's being given a stack load of cash. Surely it wouldn't take that long for Wenger to remember the likes of Denilson, Djourou, etc who were on huge sums of money meaning we couldn't shift them.
Surely he should be proving himself before being awarded a huge contract.
Wenger just doesnt learn

The end-game was/is to hopefully develop a nucleus of 'younger players' who could develop at the club & ideally go on to be the staples of Arsenal Football Club for the next decade or so.

I see your point but isn't this the idea the vast majority of clubs have? And didn't united build a league and cl winning side with a core group of youth players over 15 years ago?
It's not just Wengers idea or philosophy, we are seeign it at LFC right now for example with Sterling a mainstay of the 1st team, Flannagan too and we've had Suso and wisdom who have played plenty of 1st team games, so has Martin Kelly and Texeira made his debut recently.

yeah but isn't easier to do that when you can also add top quality players for 100s of millions of pounds like united and barca and all the other teams have been doing?
AW had to remain in the CL while making money from transfers to cover building the infrastructure of the club (stadium, academy, medical centre etc.)

At the risk of going wildly off topic (to the original post, if we're not already), to a better degree, Arsenal were in that situation of signing and trying to develop younger talent as much out of necessity as they were through sticking to a longterm plan.
There's a reason (again, we're going off on a tangent here) why the likes of Tottenham & Liverpool for example haven't bit the bullet & either redeveloped or moved grounds. Man, many constraints. In Arsenal's case, they did what they had to.

Sterling not Vito, did you watch Liverpool 5 Arsenal 1 by any chance, or his recent England performance, or any of his performances in 2014, plus Wisom and Suso both doing well on loan, also Conor Coady has helped Sheffield United reach the FA cup semi final.
Maybe have a think or get some info before attempting to engage in adult conversation .
see I engage my brain ergo I didn't say anything about this Zaelm kid or othe rArsenal youth prospects as I don;t know much about them bar maybe the odd name, seems you have even less knoweldge of LFC youths

I saw Sterling yes, but I also note his track record off pitch is not so good which spells trouble for you, and this lack of discipline seems to be a done thing at Liverpool these days.
I did not say these players aren't good, just not inspiring.

You mean the trouble he had last year, as a teenager, that he's clearly worked on and have dissapeared? Those issues?
Your hatred of LFC clouds your judgement

People (not least Liverpool fans, maybe even yourself) still bang on about Wilshere being a thug following his Taxi driver incident - more than three years ago, when he was 19.
Shít sticks I guess, few people have clear judgement when it comes to footballers.

I don't actually know what happened with this taxi driver, was he in a fight? I've heard of the cocaine abuse but I don't believe he'd be at that when he's playing regulary.

Apparently the 30k a week rumour is wrong, he is rumoured to be earning around 7k a week, which sounds realistic to be honest. All contracts with U17 year old players can only be a maximum of 2 years long.
